CHAPTER 9

EYAH'S POV

"This is bad. Zella is limping. She strained her foot yesterday. Eyah, you have to assist Zella on the doubles, okay?"

"Yes, coach." I looked at Zel, nilalagyan na ni Zen ng ice pack ang namamaga niyang paa.

Ngayon ang last day ng intramurals and Zella is being the ace of our team had already bagged three golds. I haven't played anything since I was standby. Bago lang ako dito kaya hindi na muna ako naglaro. Wala kasi silang tiwala sa akin, eh. Pero ngayon sinabi na ni coach na ako ang magiging partner ni Zella sa doubles of women's karate.

Na strained na ang foot ni Zella bago ang laban pero mas lumala lang dahil pinilit niya pang lumaban. Bago kasi siya lumaban kahapon nalaman ko na may pinagawa sa kanya si Don Zennon pero hindi ko alam na nastrained na yung paa niya bago pa siya lumaban. Nalaman ko nalang ng marinig ko ang usapan nila Kyle.

Nakita ko si Sera na papunta sa gawi nila at kinausap niya sila. Binigay naman ni Zen ang ice pack sa kambal niya bago ito umalis kasama si Sera.

"Let me help you." I snatched the ice pack from Zel's hand and gently pressed it on her strained foot. Kahit na hindi ako nakatingin sa kanya ramdam ko naman ang mga tingin niya sa akin.

"Are you really doing this?" I said worriedly as I turned my gazed on her hypnotizing eyes.

"Yeah. I don't want to lose and I can't afford to disappoint the team."

"But you're injured!" I don't know why I suddenly raised my voice. Hindi ko din alam bakit naramdaman ako ng inis dahil sa sinabi niya.

Alam kong ayaw niyang natatalo sa lahat ng larong ginagawa niya pero hindi ko akalain na iniisip din niya ang team.  So tama nga si Zei na mukha lang siyang wala pake pero ang totoo ay meron talaga.

"I can still fight." She said sternly

"You can still back out." I replied as I calmed myself down.

"Don't tell me what to do. This is my body, not yours." She turned to stood up but then she tripped. I held her in my arms, assisted her to stand while she tried to keep all her weight on her left foot.

"You're hardheaded, Zel. Just stay behind me. And please, listen to me just this once."

"Hindi ko alam na marunong ka pala sa pagkakarate, Eyah. Sorry if I have ever underestimated you." Jayson said, he's one of our seniors.

"I told you that she's great! That was two versus one." Coach commented.

Malamang agents ako ng Singh, eh. Kahit bente pa ilaban niyo sa akin wala naman silang palag.

"Not really. Zel played her part too. She just proved herself, she's the undefeated one. A legend in the making." I said before I winked at Zel. Nagsasabi lang din naman ako ng totoo na undefeated talaga siya.

"Yeah right. Zella is really something. Who would fight with an injury if it is not our own Zella Singh? Here's a toast for our ace." Couch proudly raised his glass and slugged it in one go.

Kahit naman puno na ng tama ng bala si Zel lalaban talaga iyan lalo na kung hindi niya pa napapatay ang kalaban.

Masamang damo kasi si Zel kaya matagal siyang mamatay.

Zel was in front of me, trying her best to socializing by nodding like a robot when someone tries to spark a conversation with her. Masasabi ko din na panay inom lang siya para makaiwas sa pakikipag usap sa mga nandito.

Everybody was already wasted when Zel excused herself. It's already 2am.

I followed her when she went out.

"Wait here. I'll take you home." I said

"You're drunk."

"Don't worry. I didn't drink that much so I can still drive." I didn't wait for her to respond. Agad akong pumunta kung saan nakapark ang car ko at nagdrive papunta sa gawi niya.

"Thank you." Nagulat ako ng magsalita siya

"Thank you for?"

"For doing your best to protect me earlier."

"We're teammates. That's what partners do."

Hindi naman na siya nagsalita pa hanggang sa makarating kami sa mansion nila.

I looked at her, she was already sound asleep. I took the chance to examined her face. She's really Goddess! No wonder why everyone wanted her despite knowing how cold and snob she is.

I slowly extended my hand and tucked a few strands of her hair that was covering her face at the back of her ear.

Halos mapatalon ako sa gulat ng magmulat siya ng mata and caught me looking at her. Narealized ko din na sobrang lapit ko na sa kanya dahil ramdam ko na ang hininga nito sa mukha ko.

"S-Sorry." I said without even knowing what I'm sorry for.

"Thanks for the ride." She said before she got out of the car.

I didn't know but I followed her outside. Without second thoughts I held her wrist, spun her around, grabbed her nape and pulled her closer for a kiss.

My heart exploded from satisfication when I felt her soft lips on mine. I don't know if I will still be alive when our lips part, but one thing is for sure.....

A kiss shared with Zella Serene Singh is worth dying for!
