Courage

*Alex POV*
I wake up and get dressed them head downstairs. No one is awake yet so I turn on Jump in on Netflix. Half way through Chad comes down.
"Hey Chad" I say
""Hey Alex whatcha watching" he asks
"Jump in" I say
"Cool" he says
He sits next to me on the couch and lay my head on his shoulder.
"I so wish I could do double Dutch" I say
"Why" chad asks
"It seems really cool" I say
"I guess" he says
"Well what would you want to do" I ask
"Box against Joey" he says
"Of course you would" I say
"Shut it little one. I know where you sleep" he says
"Whatever" I say
We finish the movie then Chad turns the tv off.
"Hey I was going to watch another movie" I shout
"Chill Alex I was going to take you somewhere" he says
"Where could that be" I ask
"The mall. I'm figuring you probably don't have a lot of clothes" he says
"Yep you're right" I say
"Well lets go" he says
"Wait I need to brush my hair and put on shoes" I say
"Well chop chop. Shopping doesn't wait for anyone" he says
I run upstairs and brush my hair then quickly side braid it. I go back downstairs and put on my converses.
"Ready" I say
We head out to the car and go to the mall. We get a bunch of clothes then head to the food court for lunch.
"Thanks Chad" I say
"For what" he asks
"I don't know. You're a great brother" I say
"Ok well you're a great little sister" he says
We continue eating then when we finish Chad's phone rings.
*Chad POV*
My phone rings and I walk over to the side to answer.
C-hey
A-hey where are you we have a band meeting today
C-sorry I forgot I'm at the mall with Alex. I wanted to get her some more clothes and also a phone
A-ok well we aren't really doing anything. We just talked about different concerts and stuff
C-ok I'll stop by the studio in about 20 minutes
I hang up and go back over to Alex. I grab her hand and drag her to best buy.
"Chad what are we doing here? did you drop your phone in the sink again" she asks
"No. I just thought that it would be nice if you had a phone" I say
"Chad I don't need one" she says
"I know that's exactly why I'm getting you one" I say
"Fine. What kind" she asks
"An iPhone 4S" I say
"Ok but that's expensive don't you think" she says
"No not at all" I say
We get the phone then head to the studio.
"Alex I already have a case on preorder for you. It should be at the studio." I say
"Ok. I'll probably have Alan or Caleb help me set my phone up" she says
"Ok" I say
We get to the studio and race inside. We end up knocking Joey over.
"Dudes watch where you're going" he shouts
"Sorry Joe" Alex says
"It's fine" he says
"Why are you two in a hurry" Alan asks
"Not sure. But I won. Chad you're really slow" Alex says
"Shut it missy" I say
"Both of you calm down. Chad, Alan and Joey will go over the details of our meeting with you and Alex you and me are gonna hang" Caleb says
"Have fun with mr. grammar" I say
"Yeah have fun with dork and mr. parental guidance" she says back
Alan, Joey, and I go to a deprecate room to talk.
*Alex POV*
"Caleb can you help me with my phone" I ask
"Sure kiddo what do you need help with" he asks
"Um I need help with setting it up also I need some numbers in it" I say
"Ok I can do that" he says
He helps me set everything up and puts the guys and girls numbers in my phone.
"Alex do you want some music on your phone" he asks
"Yes please" I say
"Ok what music" he asks
"Don't care. Whatever you think I'll like" I say
He finishes up with that and sits next to me on the couch with a box in his hands.
"What's in the box" I ask
"I don't know maybe some water guns" he says
He opens the box and reveals 4 water guns.
"Two for each of us" he says
"Great lets load them and go" I say
We fill them with water and walk to the room the other guys are at.
"On three" Caleb says
"One, two, three" I say
We barge in and start shooting. No one is on there. We turn around and see them at the door with water balloons. We run out the door. We get to the park and Caleb heads to the playground and I climb up a tree. Alan and Chad go to playground but Joey climbs up the tree.
"Joseph you better not throw any balloons at me" I say
"Don't worry I'm not going to. I came up here to give you something Chad left at the studio." He says handing me Chad's phone.
I take a few selfies and put the best one as his wallpaper. Joey and I climb out of the tree only to be bombarded with water.
"Okay I give up" I say
"Good. Now Joe do you have my phone" Chad asks
I take off running and Chad runs after me. I'm not look and trip over a big tree root. My ankle really hurts now. Chad runs faster over to me.
"Alex are you ok" he asks
"My ankle really hurts. I tripped over a tree root" I cry
"It's okay. I got you" he says
"Here's your phone" I say
"Thanks. Lets go back to the studio. Do you think you can walk back" he asks
"No" I say not able to bear the pain
"Ok. You can ride on my back" he says
I get on his back and he walks over to the others.
"Alex are you okay" Alan asks
"She tripped over a tree root and her ankle really hurts" Chad says
We all go back to the studio and Chad puts me on one of the couches.
"Do you want an ibuprofen or something" he asks
I nod my head
He gives my the pills then puts ice on my ankle.
"Is it swollen" I ask
"A little but it should go down soon" Caleb says
"And how so you know this stuff" Joey asks
"My mom is a nurse and she taught me stuff. I would go to work with her sometimes" he says
"Oh that makes sense" Joey says
"You might want to wrap it as well. Also ice it almost every other 2 hours" Caleb says
"Okay" I say
"Want to get home" Chad asks
"Yes" I say
Chad picks me up and carries me to the car. He puts me in then runs back in the studio. He comes back out shortly with a small package.
"Here's your phone case" he says
I open it up and it's a green case with pictures of me and him, our whole family, us three kids, him and the band, and the band and me. I give him a big hug then he drives home. We get home and he carries me inside and puts me on the couch.
"Fallon where's the ace bandage" he asks
"Why" she says
"Alex tripped over a tree root and sprained her ankle" he says
"Oh it's in the cabinet in the upstairs bathroom" she says
He goes upstairs to get it. Fallon comes over and sits on the edge of the couch.
"And who's fault would this be" she asks
"Mine and chad's" I say
"Hey how is it my fault" Chad asks
"You were chasing me" I say
"You had my phone" he says
"Joey gave it to me" I say
"Fine I guess it's both of our faults" he says
"Nice going Chadwick Matthew" Fallon says
"Yo zip it. I'm trying to tend to the wounded" he says
"I'm not wounded" I say
"Fine then walk" he says
"Fine I'm wounded" I say
"Alex just look at it this way of you're wounded Chad has to do things for you" Fallon says
"I never thought of it that way" I say
"Fallon did you really have to say that" Chad whines
"Yep. Well Chad I'm going to my parents for the week so have fun. Alex if he does anything terrible tell me" she says
"Yes ma'am" I say
She leaves and it's just Chad and me. He sits down and accidentally it's on my ankle. I wince in pain and he stands up.
"Why don't you rest your ankle on the coffee table" he suggests
"Ok" I say
Chad helps me lay my ankle gently on a pillow on the coffee table and he turns on Tarzan. Once it's over there's a knock. I get off the couch and hop over to the door since he fell asleep. I open the door and see the guys.
"Hey guys" I say
"Alex what are you doing hobbling on your foot" Caleb asks
"Chad fell asleep and Fallon isn't here. Who else would of answered the door" I say
"We could of" he says
"Well why didn't you" I say
"She has a point there" Alan says
"Well you can sit back down now" Caleb says
"I don't want to sit" I whine
"Why" he asks
"I'm tired of sitting" I say
"Well you shouldn't put any weight on your foot or ankle right now" he says
"Ok then I'll just ride on your back" I say
"Why me. Why not Alan" he says
"Hop on" Alan says
I somewhat hop onto his back. Joey leaves a note for chad and sticks it to his forehead and then we leave.
"Where are we going" I ask
"For a walk" Joey says
"Where to" I ask
"You have to wait and see" Alan says
"We can sing to pass time" Caleb says
"No way. I don't sing" I say
"I bet you sing" he says
"Nope not a chance" I say
"I know you sing" he says
"We are not going to change the song I don't dance into I don't sing are we" I ask
That was a bad move. As soon as I say that all three of them start singing I don't sing. I decide to join I'm at the very end.
"See Alex I told you you could sing" Caleb says
"I can but I'm really bad" I say
"You aren't bad. If anything you're really talented. Get some help from Chad and you'll be a pro." Caleb says
"I don't know. I don't sing in front of people. I get stage freight. Remember my play I did. I was the main role and I didn't move for thirty whole minutes" I say
"I remember that" Alan says, "Chad had to go up there and talk to you and calm you down"
"Exactly" I say
"How about this... you sing a song or two with us at concert one time. Maybe you and Chad can even do a song together" Alan says
"Maybe. Can I think about it" I ask
"Of course. Now kiddo will you like to join us for dinner" Caleb asks
"Sure. Chad will probably be sleeping for another two minutes though" I say
"He'll call your phone probably and you can tell him to meet us at chick fil a" Alan says
"Ok" I say
As we get to chick fil a my phone rings. I pull it out and answer it.
A-yes
C-hey where are you
A-I'm at dinner with the guys. You can join us. We're at chick fil a. Can you bring me a pair of socks. I left before I thought about putting anything on my feat
C-okay see you guys soon
A-bye
I hang up.
"Was that Chad" Alan asks
"Yep! he said he was going to be here soon and being me a pair of socks" I say
"Ok" he says
"What do you want to eat kiddo" Caleb asks
"A chicken sandwich with pickles and provolone cheese" I say
"Alright" he says
We get our food and go to sit down. We find a seat and begin to eat. Chad finally arrives.
"Yes you're here. Where are my socks" I ask
"Well then hello to you to sis" he says
"Hi. Did you bring me socks" I ask
"Yes I did dork" he says throwing the socks at my face
"Thanks. My feet are freezing" I say
"Whatever. Just eat your food" he says
"Will do bub" I say
I finish eating and so does everyone else. We start talking about different things.
"Chad did you know your sister is a really good singer" Caleb says
"Yup" he says
"Wait how did you know I could sing" I ask
"Um I've heard you sing in your room. I was in my room and heard you singing so I stood outside of your room" he says
"Oh" I say
"Why are you embarrassed about singing? you're really good" he says
"I don't know" I say
"Alex look at me" he says
I look up at him then look down again. He pushes my chin up with his finger so that I'm looking him right in the eyes.
"Alex you are an amazing singer. God gave you that talent. You should treasure it forever" he says
"Ok" I say
"So Chad we thought that we could have Alex sing a few songs with us at a concert at some point" Alan says
"I like that idea. Are you okay with it" Chad asks
"I guess as long as you're up there to I think I'll be fine" I say
"Ok well we have a concert next week." Alan says
"Alright" I say
"Alex ready to go home" Chad asks
"Nope" I say
"What do you want to do" he asks
"I don't know" I say
"Why don't we go to the park" Joey suggests
"Ok" I say
"Alright" Chad says
"Can I ride on your back Chad" I ask
"Sure" he says
I get on his back and we all head to the park. We all sit under a willow tree.
I sit next to Chad and lay my head on his chest.
"You better not fall asleep" he says
"Why not? Joey's asleep" I say
"Why don't we all sleep here tonight" Caleb says
"Sorry guys I have to go home to my kids and wife" Alan says
"Chad please" I beg
"Fine" he says
"Thanks" I say
"I'm going to tell Kelsey to come. Alex do you want a sweatshirt or something" Caleb says
"A blanket" I say
"Ok" he says
He calls Kelsey and she shows up a little later with blankets. We put one on Joey then I put one over Chad and me and Caleb puts one over Kelsey and him. We all fall asleep quickly.
