Dying love but growing family

~4 years later~
*Chad POV*
"Uncle Chad" I hear Hezie call
"What" I ask
"When is daddy getting here? Cat and I want to go see mommy and baby brother" he says
"He should be here soon. Why don't you go play with your cousins" I say
"They won't let me play with them. And Cat is watching movie" he says
"Ok. Let's go outside and play" I say
He nods his head.
So it's been four years and a lot has gone on. Hezie is almost 5. 2 years ago Alex had a daughter named Catherine but I nicknamed her Cat. And Alex just had a son. His name is Douglas but I already decided on Duke as his nickname. Alan and Brycie are the godparents of Catherine and Caleb and Kelsey are the godparents of Duke. All the kids have gotten bigger. And a lot sassier. Caleb and Kelsey had another son. His name is Aiden. He's 2. Joey and J got married and the have a little girl. Her name is Jaden. She's 3. AJ is in 9th grade and Presley is in 8th grade. Rowe is in 6th grade. Chase is in 4th grade. The twins are in 2nd grade.
"Uncle Chad. Can I jump in the trampoline" Hezie asks
"Go ahead" I say
I help him up and he starts jumping. Fallon comes out and has a worried look on her face.
"What's wrong" I ask
"Chad Peyton was in a car accident. He died on the way to the hospital. You need to go and tell Alex" she says
"Uh ok. You got the kids" I ask
"Yeah. Go be with your little sister. Take Joey with you. She needs her two big brothers with her" she says
"Ok. See you later" I say
I go out to my car and get in. I pull my phone out and call Joey.
J-hey Chad what do you need
C-Peyton just died in a car accident on his way to pick the kids up to introduce them to their baby brother. I'm going to tell Alex. Will you come with
J-of course
C-ok. I'll be at your house soon
I hang up and start the car. I get to Joey's and he gets in the car. We get to the hospital and head to Alex's room. I knock on the door and she says come in. We go in and take a seat on either side of the bed.
"Hey guys." She says
"Hey how are you doing" Joey asks
"Good" she says
"How's Duke" I ask
"Chad what's with all the weird nicknames for my children" she asks
"I don't know" I say
"Ok well he's good. Where are Peyton and the kids" she asks
"Alex as Peyton was coming to pick the kids up he was in a car accident. He died in the ambulance." I say
"W-what" she stammers
"He got killed in a car accident. I'm sorry Alex" I say
"No. No this can't be happening. I can't do it in my own. Chad I can't do it" she cries
"Baby sis it's going to be ok. We're all here for you" Joey says
"No Joey I'm not able to do it" she cries
Joey moves her over some then sits next to her letting her cry into his chest.
"I'm going to go call the guys" I whisper
"Ok" he says
I go out to the hall and grab my phone. I call Alan first.
A-hey Chad what's wrong
C-Peyton died in a car accident today. Joey and I are over at the hospital with her. Could you come over?
A-yeah. I'll be there soon
C-ok. Stop by the studio and grab Joe's guitar. Alex likes the sound of that one.
A-will do
I hang up and call Caleb.
Ca-hey Chad
Ch-hey. Do you think you could come to the hospital? Peyton died in a car accident and Alex needs us here for her
Ca-of course. I'll be there soon
I hang up and out my phone in my pocket. I head to the main entrance to wait for the two. They get here and Alan hands me the guitar. We go up to the room. We go in and see Alex sleeping and Joe holding Duke. I go over to Joey and give him his guitar and take Duke. I lean down and kiss the top of Alex's head.
"Love you lil sis" I say
I sit down on a chair and just rock Duke. An hour or two later Alex wakes up.
"Hey sis" I say
"Hey" she mumbles
"I have my guitar" Joey says
"Can you play closer than the Angels" she asks
"Of course. Anything for you baby sis" Joey says
He grabs his guitar and starts strumming. After a few chords we join in with singing. By the song ends Alex is in tears.
"Sis what's wrong" I ask
"Hezie loves that song so Peyton and I would always sing it to him. I just love Peyton's voice." She says
"It will be okay sis. Do you want to see your kids" I ask
"Yeah" she says
"Ok. Joey and I will go get them" I say
"Chad" she says
"What" I ask
"when can I leave" she asks
"Tomorrow morning" I say
"Ok" she says
Joey and I get up and I pass Duke over to Caleb. We leave the room and head towards the front of the hospital. We leave the main entrance and get in my car. I start it and drive to my house.
"You ok Chad" Joey asks
"Yeah. I'm just worried about Alex" I say
"We all are." He says
"Joey you and the guys can't keep on answering with we all are. Because you aren't worrying as much as me. You can't replace me" I say
"Chad I'm not trying to replace you. If you weren't here Alex wouldn't be here right now. She could've been dead. She could have been forced to live with her other brothers and her uncle could've gotten to her easier. Your a great brother and I wouldn't want to replace you. Anyone would be lucky to have a brother like you. I just want to have someone to treat as a little sibling. In the youngest in my family and the band. Half the time I feel left out because I can't relate to you guys. That's why I hang with Alex. I can relate to her." He says
We get to my house and go inside.
"Uncle Joey" Hezie yells
"Hey Hez" Joey says
"Hezie we're going to go see your mommy. Do you want to come" I ask
"Will baby Duke be there too? He asks
"Yes" Joey says
"Ok" he says
Joey goes outside to the car with him. I head downstairs to the basement and head over to the tv area.
"Uncle Chad" Cat says
"Hey how's my favorite niece" I ask
"Good. I wanna see mommy and baby Duke" she says
"Ok we'll go right now" I say
"Yeah" she cheers
"did you have a fun time with Aunt Fallon?" I ask
"Yep. We watched oomi zooms and wonder pets. Also bubble guppies" she says
"Wow." I say
I pick her up and go upstairs. I grab the diaper bag on my way out. I get to the car and put her in her seat. I then get in and start the car.
"Uncle Chad I'm hungry" Hezie says
"Ok. We'll stop by chick fil a" I say
"Yeah" he cheers
I go through the drive thru and give everyone their food. We get to the hospital and I park the car. Hezie gets out and holds Joey's hand and I pick Cat up. We go inside and up to Alex's room. We get in there and they're watching finding dory. Hezie lets go of Joey's hand and runs over to Alex.
"Hey bubba" she says
"Hi mommy. Uncle Chad gave us chick fil a for lunch then for breakfast this morning we had ice cream and waffle sandwiches. Also last night he made us pizza and we had chocolate chip cookies" Hezie says
"Wow Chad so if my kids are bouncing off walls it's your fault" she asks
"Yep" I say
"Mommy" Cat cheers
"Hey baby girl. You have fun with your uncle Chad" she asks
"Mhmm. Where baby Duke" Cat asks
"Uncle Caleb is holding him. I better if you sit with uncle Caleb he'd let you hold him" Alex says
"Ok" she says
I set her down in Caleb's lap and he helps her hold him.
"Momma where's daddy" Hezie asks
"We got this" Alan says motioning to me and him
Alan picks Hezie up and we go out to the hall.
"Hezie you need to listen and listen closely" I say
"Ok" he says
"When your daddy was coming to get you and your sister this morning a car ran into him. People who work at the hospital were bringing him here to get him checked out when he went bye bye." Alan says
"Daddy bye bye" Hezie whimpers
"Yeah. But he's up in the sky now running and playing with your uncle Eli and grandma and grandpa. Don't worry he's always watching over you. Plus you'll have us and your other uncles around" I say
"B-but I need daddy. Daddy suppose to be here. He gonna help me with tee ball. Now I got no one" he cries
"I bet if you ask uncle Joey he will help you." Alan says
"O-ok. What about Duke and Cat? Cat doesn't really know daddy and Duke will be without a daddy" Hezie says
"Well you are a great big brother and I know you'll help your mom. Also me and your uncles are here. We will be here for you and your siblings. And I'll always be here for your mom." I say
"Ok. Thank you Uncle Chad. I love you" he says
"Love you too bud. Why don't we go back in and you can hold your little brother" I say
"Yes" he says
I pick him up and we go back in the room. I set Hezie in a chair and take Duke from Alex. I crouch down next to Hezie and help him hold Duke.
"He looks like me." Hezie says
"Yeah." I say
There's a knock at the door and a nurse comes in.
"Mrs.Meyers as of now you probably heard of your husbands death. You can come and see his body if you want." She says
"Can my brother come with me" Alex asks
"Of course" the nurse says
Alan takes Hezie and Caleb takes Duke. I stand up and go over to Alex I help her stand up and we follow the nurse to a room. We get in there and Peyton's body is on a bed covered in a blanket. Alex goes over there and sits in a chair. I go over to her and kneel beside her.
"He's gone Chad. He's never coming back" she whispers
"I know. And I'll always be there for you. Up until the day I die" I say
"What am I suppose to do when you die? I'll have no one then" she says
"You'll have the guys and you nieces and nephews. J. You'll never be alone" I say
"I love you Chadwick" she says
"Love you too Alexandra" I say
We stand up and return to her room. I help her to the bad and she gets back in.
"Hey I've got to head out. I told Jaden I would play with her a little bit before dinner" Joey says
"Yeah I've got to head out too. Don't want to leave Kelsey home with the two monkeys for two long by herself. They get wild" Caleb says
"Caleb can you give me a ride" Joey asks
"Sure" he says
They leave and close the door behind them.
"I'm gonna head out too. Brycie probably has dinner ready" Alan says
"Bye big Al" Alex yawns
He waves and leaves.
"Let's go kids. Let's go home so mommy can sleep. You'll see her tomorrow when she gets home with baby Duke" I say
"Ok Uncle Chad. Bye mommy" Hezie says
"Bye mommy" Cat says
"Bye babies" she says
I pick Cat up and hold Hezie's hand. We leave the room and go outside. We go to my car and I get the kids in. I start the vehicle and drive to my house. We get there and go inside. Fallon already has dinner on the table. After dinner and a movie I send the kids to bed then head to sleep myself. I lay down and slowly drift off to sleep.
