Meanwhile, at Night Raven College...
"Look how late it is. All that prep for the Halloween Party took forever." Ace stretched with an exaggerated groan as he and Jack trudged down Main Street, the glow of jack-o'-lanterns flickering in the crisp night air. They'd just wrapped up hours of decorating alongside the other students. "Maaan. Wonder what the guys at the Fleur City social are up to right now. Especially Lil' Rabbit... bet she's living it up."
"They're probably asleep by now," Jack replied, his tail flicking lazily behind him. "After a whole day of sightseeing and stuffing themselves with all that fancy food the headmage was bragging about... I could stand to go to bed myself... *yawn*" He stifled a yawn.
"Augh, MUST BE NICE." Ace grumbled. "Meanwhile, look at us over here... Putting up fun decorations all over school... Stuffin' our faces with candy... And then to top it all off, we get to party down and have a blast. Yup, same ol' Halloween," He brightened suddenly, grinning like he'd forgotten his own complaint.
Jack gave a low chuckle. "Haha, sounds like you're having a good enough time."
"Well, sure." Ace admitted, scratching the back of his neck. "But vacations are cool in a whole different way, y'know?" Ace stated. "I'm so jealous that Deuce and the other guys get to live it up in Fleur City with Lil Rabbit!" he exclaimed in jealousy.
If only he knew what kind of nightmare the other group was tangled up in...

"HRAAAGH!" Deuce roared, ripping into a cluster of flowers that had bundled themselves in students' cloaks. His breath came hard and fast "*huff, huff* Sweat's running down my forehead and getting in my eyes..." He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand before glancing over at Rook. "You okay over there, Rook?!"
"I'm fine, thank you, Deuce. Your full-body tackle is a marvel to behold. Bravo!" Rook praised, though his own brow was damp with exertion. "But these firelotuses are quite formidable in large numbers. We're barely making a dent in them."
"Yeah, and I'm not sure I can keep dodging them much longer." Deuce admitted, jaw tight.
"I fear I too no longer possess the reserves to wither them." Rook confessed. "Would that we could move the students supplying them with nourishment. But there are so many of them, and only two of us."
