Mayuri's POV
I walked in the kitchen, removed my veil and tied my hairs up. Taking a deep breath, I moved towards the stove and lit it up. I took a big bowl in my hand and placed it above the stove, putting some oil in it.Then I put some chopped vegetables and called the attendee to help me with the spices.
Of course, I can't prepare the dishes all alone as I needed the help of attendees in finding the masala jars and other stuffs.
I was making Rice, Maal-pua, Makhan Mishri, Gevar and Aloo-Puri for the pandits and my in-laws.
It took me approx 1 hour 30 minutes to prepare all the food. I got so tired because the dishes were few but the quantity of the food is alot. There were about 20 to 30 people I made food for. It was very difficult for me, I have never made food for these many people and at a time I almost got my hand burnt but God saved me.
After plating all the dishes, I washed my hand and clean it with a neat cloth. Bringing my veil down, I moved towards the dining hall. There were 6 to 7 attendees who were bringing the food behind.
The guard opened the door and I entered in the hall. It was silent. I looked at the pandits sitting on the couches. They looked at my side.
'I hope, I'm not late'
I gulped and looked down. Suddenly someone put the hand on my shoulder and I got startled.
"Relax Mayuri, It's me" Jiji said from behind and came closer towards me. I got some relief and looked at her side.
"Go and take blessings from the pandits" I nodded and moved towards them.
I adjoin my hand and bowed my head a little. One by one I took blessings from the pandit. After taking blessings from them, I served the food.
They started eating it after adjoining the hand and I just stood here. Tension was bubbling up inside me. I don't know how the food will taste. Are the spices added in correct measure or not?
Soon they finished the food, and stood up. They seemed relax and happy. There was a little smile on their faces.
"Hum aapka dhanyawaad karna chahta hai itne swadisht bhojan ke liye" (I want to thank you for this much delicious food). One of the pandit said.
And finally, I got a relief. At one moment I felt like my soul left the body. My lips automatically convert into a big smile.
"Jii, Nahi. Isme dhanyawad kaisa. Yeh toh humara kartavya hai." (No need to thank, It is just our responsibility) Maasa said, her face was also covered with veil.
"Hum aapko aur aapke parivar ko ashirwad dete hai ki aapke ghar mai sukh aur shaanti bani rahegi. Aur aapka shashan soo saalo tak chalega!" (It is my blessing that you and your family will live in peace and your kingdom will rule for a decade!)
After listening this, I got goosebumps all over my body. There is no limit to my happiness. I immediately moved toward and touched his feet."Khus raho! Bhagwan kare ki tum humesha khush raho aur tumhe doo nanhe shishu ho. Jinka tej bilkul chaand ke saaman ho" (God bless you! I hope you will always be happy and soon will be blessed with two babies whose glory will be exactly like the moon) I shivered a little and my eyes became teary. I bowed my head a little, thanking him.
I took my steps backward and other people started taking blessings from them.
*Time skips*
The guest and my in-laws had their lunch. As it was my first time, I made food for them. They gave me several gifts and blessings. But still there was no happiness found in me because the person who should be here was not!
