"Welcome to Dragon Training," announced Gobber the next morning as he pushed the gate up to allow the teens to enter.

The teens entered the arena with thoughts of no turning back and happy to follow in their parents footsteps. Hiccup on the other hand was just miserable because she actually wanted to use her free time to find that Night fury, who had saved her life twice, and find out the real reason why dragons were raiding her village. Maybe they are not the beasts we think they are, she thinks to herself as she dragged her axe across the arena making it to the center of the arena where the teens were lined up ready to face their first dragon.

She came up to the end of the line where Fishlegs was, holding a hammer close to his chest, waiting to put his intelligence to use. Gobber was walking up towards the gate where a dragon was banging against the gate waiting to be set free when Snotlout said "Hey umm what is the prize for the recruit who does best?"

"They will win the honor of killing his first dragon in front of the entire village," replied Gobber to which Hiccup cringed at the sound of killing because she was unsure of what to do at the moment of who she wanted to be.

"Will you stop that?!?!" Gobber yelled at Fishlegs bring Hiccup back to reality long enough for her to hear him say "and the Gronckle" to realize that he was naming the dragons and Fishlegs was naming their strengths and their advantages.

"Jaw strength: 8," Fishlegs whispered to Hiccup as Gobber grabbed onto the handle that held the gate closed.

"Wait, wait aren't you going to teach us first?" asked Snotlout in disbelief.

"Well he is Gobber, Snotlout and if you had bothered to get to know him better like I did, you would know that he believes in learning on the job. Hope you live to see the next day," replied Hiccup as she looked at him with a smirking expression on her face as she knew what was going to happen that very moment.

"Thank you Hiccup and she is right because learning on the job is one thing to train our recruits," said Gobber before pushing down on the lever and releasing the dragon, which turned out to be the Gronckle that Fishlegs had mentioned earlier.

Quickly the teens scattered around the arena while Gobber said "Today is about survival, if you get blasted, your dead."

The Gronckle flew towards the group as it scattered and hit itself against the wall before spotting rocks and chomping on them eagerly. "Quick, what's the first thing that you are going to need?" asked Gobber taking the distraction the kids had for the moment to quiz them on what they need.

"Plus five-speed?" asked Fishlegs scaredly.

"A doctor?" asked Hiccup sarcastically.

"A shield," answered Arenton confidently.

"Shield's go!!" commanded Gobber.

As the teens scattered to get their shields Gobber continued with the lesson quiz saying "The most important of your equipment is you shield, if you must choose between the sword or the shield take the shield.

While he said that, Hiccup was having trouble getting her shield on her arm so he went over and helped her grip on her shield and shoved her into the field. The twins however were arguing over a shield and got blasted then pronounced 'dead' by the teacher. "Those shields are good for another thing, noise. Make lots of it to throw off a dragons aim," continued Gobber as he stood back next to the gate.

Hiccup used the axe her father gave her to hit her shield very hard and saw the dragon nods his head up and down confused and couldn't aim at them right now. While the dragon was confused for the moment, Hiccup used the distraction to run towards a board where she could take refuge until the lesson was over. "Every dragon has its shot limit, how many does a Gronckle have?" asked Gobber quizingly watching the teens run around the dragon to avoid getting hit.
