the two boys had been dying to actually see each other and since they lived in the same country, it wasn't so bad. so they made plans for dan to take the train to lancashire to stay with phil for a week.
both boys were on school holidays so their parents said it was perfectly fine. dan's sister was just happy that she didn't have to see dan for an entire week while dan had the exact same feelings towards her.
