Sitting in the break room, I texted my mom to check on Mason to see how he was doing. My baby boy was finally feeling better, and back to his normal self, I was so glad.

Since I was working late, my mom would be keeping him for the night, grabbing a bag of chips from the basket on one of the tables, I opened them and started to eat, soon Chris's name popped up on my screen.

I think I was developing a small crush on him, my feelings were all over the place at the moment, but he was a really sweet guy, so genuinely caring.

Chris: I hope you're having a good shift beautiful, give me a call later? ❤️-5:30pm

I smiled to myself as I responded to his text along with Cam's, she was asking me to hangout with her on Saturday, she was going to bring her little brother Giovanni and we'd probably just go to the park.

As I pressed send a text from an unknown number popped up at the top of my screen, furrowing my brows as I leaned back in the metal chair and read over the text; my heart sank.

347-221-6613: hey taelyn, this is sheila, I hope this is still your number, I wanted to know if I could see my grandson later this week or next week. I'm so sorry for treating you so poorly, maybe you and I can sit down tomorrow and talk. let me know..-5:32pm

I didn't even know she still had my number, I left her on seen and decided not to respond right away, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't want Mason around them, in the past they've treated me with so much disrespect, even when Isiah and I found out I was pregnant they still decided to make things stressful for the both of us, causing me to almost lose my baby.

I took a screenshot of the text and sent it to my mom before my alarm went off signaling that my break was over.

I hadn't heard from Shiela in months, even when Isiah was alive his family and I didn't have any type of communication unless it was forced; which I hated because it honestly made things seem very  disingenuous and fake.

Sliding my phone into my pocket I went back to work, taking orders, cashing out customers, and cleaning tables.

I was so tired, but also a little happy to have some alone time when I got home, I was going to shower, eat, and maybe catch up on a show. I did need to clean Mason's room so maybe I'd do that as well, I also needed to clean my- okay, maybe I wouldn't be sleeping right away, but at least I'd get a few things done.
