I woke up to the sound of rain pattering against the concrete outside my hotel room window.

I arrived in LA early yesterday morning and had been running around exploring the city, but later this afternoon I'd be meeting up with Andre at his studio.

Los Angeles was a completely different vibe from Brooklyn, the people seemed nicer, the food wasn't as good as it was back home; but the dispensary's were nice from what I experienced yesterday.

I was still shocked to even be all the way out here honestly, this opportunity made me realize that my art was now taking me places I could only dream about in the past.

The sound of my phone ringing caused to me to glance over at it on the nightstand. Taelyn's name flashed across the screen along with a photo of her, Mason and myself when we went to the science museum a while back.

I hadn't spoken to her in a couple of hours. I got back to the hotel pretty late and after showering I attempted to call, but it was around two in the morning there, so I knew my baby was probably asleep.

Swiping the screen to answer I waited for the connection to do its thing. Taelyn was in her work t-shirt as she popped up on my screen, a smile alredy evident on her beautiful face. She recently moved to morning shift at her job, so that her hours would fit perfectly with her schedule, and she'd have a lot more time to spend with Mason and her mom.

I was happy for her.

She'd typically call me around her break times so me being awake now was perfect.

"Wassup mama?" I said as I held my phone in my hand, a smile making its way across her face as she propped up her phone so that she could see me.

She looked so pretty, I loved when she wore her hair down, I loved everything about her, I loved her.

"I'm just at work unfortunately, I miss you though." She said poking out her bottom lip as I ran my hand down my fresh fade.

"I miss you too for real, feels weird being all the way on the other side of the country. Brooklyn ain't nothin' like this." I said as she pulled her hair into a high bun.

"I bet it's very different, send me photos. I'm going to pick up Mason in about an hour since I'll be off soon." She said as I nodded before yawning, it was ten thirty here almost and I was still pretty tired.

My mind soon drifted to Mason, how was he now that I was all the way on the other side of the country?

"I will, and he's good? Like he's behaving? I'm not sure if he even notices that I'm not around." I said as she nodded before opening the straw to her boba drink, she pressed the straw firmly into the cup before it made a pop sound and she started to drink it.
