He lost her . He fucking lost her .

His breathing became heavy.

No hint of any softness.

He heard someone shout , heard the words, butkept looking at the burning palace, denying it in his heart. Something broke — damaged beyond repair in his chest.

It was a lot worse than Saudamini leaving him . Bondita wasn't even his . she wasn't his to fight , wasn't his to hate , wasn't his mourn . Something poisonous bleeding its way into his heart, paralyzing it, deadening it, until he couldn't feel it anymore . Until he could feel nothing but the poison . And it was working , he was feeling alive and dying at the same time . she made him alive only to make him die a painful death .

It just hurt .Everything hurt. Every-fucking-thing. His trembling hands, his trembling lips, his trembling heart. All of it. he couldn't breathe. The air was trapped somewhere in his chest, close to his bleeding heart. His throat was tight, locked down; a weight settling low in his stomach as the noise from the screaming  filled the death in the air around him .

He just stood there numb , when everyone was trying to extinguish the rapidly spreading fire. The black smoke was already covering the night sky with black clouds . Everything around him was dark ,  filled with loss and death , filled with sorrow . But then a silver ray of moonlight broke from the dark clouds . And she emerged from the burning flames . she wasn't alone , she came back with the crying baby in her hands and Rasiya following behind her .

And when she came out , he ran . he ran fighting against the wind to her . He ran past pushing everyone aside to her . Raindrops clung heavily to the clouds, the crackle of lightning loud in the wind. he could feel it in the air, the heavy rain that would drown him tonight. It was already dark and he can still see the moon from the clouds .

She was there.

She was there , with swollen red eyes , dirt and black dust coating her .

Thunder split the sky; winds became chaotic . The baby was crying in her arms and she was trying to shield him from the rain  .Thunder roared in agony. The winds lamented. And suddenly, she found another pair of palms shielding the baby from the rain . And she knew the pair of palms belonged to him .

Hushed. Everything hushed. He stilled even more, impossibly . She stilled even more, reflexively. The air between them stilled, dangerously. Her throat locked, heart pounded, blood beat hard in her ears as he locked his gaze into hers . The scent of incoming rain permeated the air . The rain pouring down heavily , drenching them both . The rain poured all over them, the scent of wet earth rising and mingling with the scent of him, invading her senses, burying itself under her skin . she didn't know when the crying baby was taken from her hands .

Droplets clung to his eyelashes . His jaw clenched, a vein popping on the side of his head as his eyes pierced hers for a long moment. She held his gaze, never blinking once, the water sluicing down their faces as they stared at each other.

Baarish ki boonde kya kya yaad dilayein
Girti hai jaise waise dil ko jalayein

His eyes widen slightly as he saw the red liquid coming from her nose , his eyes came back to hers and saw they were closing slowly . He flung a arm through her waist and she was crashed to his chest unconscious . He took her chin in his index finger and looked at her peaceful face . He wiped the droplet of blood from her nose with his thumb but it followed another droplet .

She  was doing it once gain . After a flicker of life she was letting him die once again , a painful death .

He inhaled a long breath , his hands shuddering with fear . He opened his fist ,but his hand was shivering . he with a very agonizing speed placed it on her heart to feel it was beating or not . The steady beating he felt , flooded him with relief . He almost cried , he almost let it show to the world that he cared , he cared so desperately about her .
