"Do you wanna tell me what's going on?" I felt like I had to speak in a soft and calming voice, or else the girl in front of me would break. She already looked like she was on the verge of tears, and I stand by what I said. I do not want to make her uncomfortable. But at the same time, I need answers. I need to help her. Was she scared of saying something? Was she scared of getting hurt if she said something?

I also noticed how Kiara's hands had started to shake, so I grabbed both of her hands gently and looked into her eyes. "I... I'm, uhm..." She quietly mumbled, clearly struggling to find the words as her voice began to break.

"It's okay. Take your time, buddy." I gave her a soft, reassuring smile, not moving my hands away from hers. I didn't plan on letting her go until I had at least some information I could work with. Some information that I could use to help her. Obviously I couldn't force her to talk, but deep down, I knew that she needed to talk to someone. I was willing to be that person for her. Despite only meeting her in person today, I felt like I still had that duty to get her the help that she needs. Something is clearly wrong, and if I can do anything to make things better, I will do it.

"I'm a foster kid..." I noticed how tears instantly pricked at her eyes when she was finally able to mutter those words. It's almost as if she was ashamed? The way she averted her eyes straight to the floor when she said it. It was like she didn't want to see my reaction.

"Yeah, I know. I heard the conversation earlier that you had with that other fan, and what she said wasn't fair. Just know, I don't see you any differently, Kiara. Just because you're a foster kid, it doesn't mean that you should be treated differently. That's not fair on you at all." I told her. We were getting somewhere. I'm mainly curious as to how she got the burn on her hand, even though I had a brief idea. However, I couldn't just assume. I had to hear the words come from her, or else I wouldn't be able to do anything.

After I said those words, Kiara just looked at me, her eyes still glistening with tears. I guess she couldn't find the right words again, so I kept talking. I mean, I don't blame her for struggling to find the words. By the looks of it, it's like she's surprised that someone is actually showing some compassion towards her. And it's not going to be easy finding words to say if you don't receive a lot of compassion on a daily basis.

"Sweetheart, i'm not going to force you to talk about your personal life if it's going to make you uncomfortable, but please know that you're not pushing your problems onto me. I want you to talk to me because I genuinely care about you and want to help. I wouldn't have told my team to get you up here last if I didn't care. The whole reason I wanted to speak to you last is so that I could try and help. But i'm not going to force you. If you don't want to talk then that's fine. I just want you to know that i'm here." I told her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to my side.
