KIARA It's the first day back at school after a two week long break. I have been cut off from talking to Malakhi for three days. Okay, that's not a lot of time but just think about it. Most people text their friends every day. I've had to go for three days; he's probably losing his mind. I know i've been on the verge of losing my mind; I can only imagine what Malakhi's feeling. He knows so little. I mean, he nearly went insane after a day when I didn't text him when I met Taylor. What the hell is he going to think when I see him today? Will he be mad? Will he not want to be my friend anymore?
My thoughts began racing through my mind as I quickly walked through the busy corridors of the middle school, eager to find my best friend. I didn't want to find him just to tell him about everything that's happened these past few days, I want to find him because i've missed him. We normally don't even last a few hours without texting each other.
As soon as I turned to walk down the next corridor, I sighed in relief as I finally saw Malakhi standing in front of his locker, taking some textbooks out and placing them in his backpack.
"Mal!" I shouted over the overlapping voices that echoed through the school corridor. I took a small jog over to him as he had now turned to look in my direction, his eyes lighting up slightly.
"Where the hell have you been?! I've been trying to call you for days, Kiara!" He told me, his eyes widening as he slammed his locker shut. Before I could respond, he tapped my arm and motioned for me to follow him.
Once we had found a quieter and less busy corridor to stand in, he raised his eyebrows, looking for an answer. "Alright, if you're mad, that's fine. I don't blame you for being mad. I probably would be too, but uhm... I- my phone's broken." I cut myself off and just got straight to the point before I could start rambling.
Malakhi scrunched his eyes up into a slight frown. "What? How?! Kiara, that thing should be treated like a prized possession! Taylor Swift literally talks to you on that phone, how did you break it?!" He interrogated as his eyes remained wide in shock and slight confusion.
"I didn't break it! You remember the woman I was telling you about the other day, right? Trunchbull?" I defended, causing his jaw to drop in realisation.
"Hang on, the last time you texted me was what? Two, three days ago?" He tilted his head as he awaited my answer. I nodded in response, resulting in his eye twitching in bewilderment.
