Chapter 50 The thoughts of a Mad Man

To say Dottore felt unhappy about his new living situation would be a big understatement. Humiliated, angry, upset and desperate to escape would be more accurate. Yet, he felt oddly at peace with it. The fact a low god that was meant to be dead long ago was able to defeat him in such a cunning manner still stuck in his mind. To be defeated in such a swift time. One minute he was free and the next to be forever bound to you in servitude. He had to admit the whole reason why it happened was it own fault. He put on the bracelet himself, it was him who willingly walked into his own trap. Because of his own greed he made you stronger without known. To unleash the memories you had locked, allowing you to gain the upper hand. It is the fact you thought quickly and trapped him is the reason he didn't feel so bad. After all, if the Balladeer held you deeply to him then it must mean you are someone worth of respect right?

But there was something that really irked him. Your status. You bowing to others really annoyed him. They should be bowing at you! You are older. Must more experienced in life than that little Sumeru Archon. She would bowing at your feet. Did she not know who you are? You survived the Archon War, managed to outwit him, and have three Archons wrapped around your finger. Clearly you have far too much behind you to be treated as if you were some mere low god below the Archons. Plus you have three brothers who have slain other gods. Dottore felt oddly proud to have such a master and all the same disgusted. To have a master that is very influential among others and to have a master that's so weak that it needs protection from others.

He watched as you were with the others as Childe pulled him away after his little outburst. He felt his hands tightened into fist and clenched his teeth. He felt conflicted. He hated feeling that. He wanted to curse at you for being so pathetic and at the same time he wanted to beat the others into submission towards you. Maybe it's his pride that wanted to do that so he doesn't suffer embarrassment for being bound to a weak god. However, there was a small voice behind his mind, that kept telling him otherwise. A little voice of doubt that kept telling him it wasn't a matter of pride or for appearances. It was. Something else. Something. Different. Something new to him. The fact he didn't know what it was bugged him more. A man of science like him felt like he needed to know exactly what he felt and why he did. For all he knew it could be trouble down the line if left unchecked.

As he was tugged along by Childe he stopped and pulled away.

"Unhand me!" Dottore said as Childe sigh a bit irritated himself.

"Just behave will you. Your making her look bad" Childe said as he glanced around. "Ok this place looks good to wait at. Not many people around." He looked at Dottore crossing his arms. "Now then what's your deal? What you talking about this her not bowing?"

"Hmph. It's something a simple minded fool like yourself won't understand." Dottore said glancing at the direction you were in. "Even if I explained it I'm sure you wouldn't even understand a third of it."

"Hey hey I'm not that stupid. Ill admit I'm no genius like you but I'm not that 'simple' as you put it so mind laying off the insults?" Childe asked as his eye twitched in annoyance. This only made Dottore laugh to himself in amusement.

"Well the fact you admitted it is a step to clarity. Either way. I don't care. I don't have to explain myself to you. You are not the boss of me" Dottore said as he turned and started to walk.

"Hey! You can't just leave as you like!" Childe quickly ran after him. Catching up to him he stayed close to his side. "Y/N asked me to keep an eye on you and keeping an eye on you I will."

"How it feel to be downgraded from the weakest rank of Fatui Harbinger to a mere babysitter?" Dottore asked as Childe looked more annoyed.

"Very funny.." Childe said as he looked ahead as they walked "but if you must know. It feels great. Because at least. I have freedom." Dottore stopped as Childe stopped ahead at him and looked at him "unlike a certain ex Harbinger"
