Chapter 16: Venom

I got up at 7:00 am and saw that maddie was still sleeping so I made sure I was silent. I went into the bathroom and put on my black training pants and I also put on a Gray training Bra. Then I put my hair up into a ponytail and left the room. When I got to the training deck Keith was already there and I pulled out my bayard to surprise him but when I got close he said the end of the training sequence.

The only problem is that the robot didn't stop. The light on its head turned red and it continued to attack Keith. I ran up to help him after he fell. "End training Sequence!" I yelled and the robot's light turned back to blue and it shut down. I helped Keith up and he said "Well that was weird. Maybe it was a malfunction?" He questioned and I slightly nodded my head but I had the feeling that something was off.

We started the first level and the robot acted normally and everything seemed ok so we trained for another hour and a half. Then Coran called everyone to the holding area because they had a way to see into Sendak's mind. When I got there Maddie was nowhere to be seen so I figured that she was still asleep. I still had my training clothes on but I put a black hoodie on because it was really cold in this room. "We took the same mechanism that holds King Alfor and changed it a little bit so we could use it on Sendak '' Pidge said and I looked over at Sendak and shuttered. Shiro saw this and looked over at me while saying "Kenya if you need to leave you can." Then everyone looked over at me and I said "No, I'll be fine, there are just a lot of bad memories with him." I said and everyone agreed we waited for around half an hour and finally I said "I'm going to check on Maddie and see if she is up." I left the room and headed down the hallway until I saw a purple glow in front of me and I stopped.

The glow was bright at first but then it was fading as if it was walking away. I followed and realized that it was the same sign as what was on my blade so I pulled it out and it changed into a sword. I noticed that the symbol was also glowing so I held it up to the light and it vanished. I noticed that when I followed it I ended up in a closet so as I went to leave the doors shut and a warning came on screen saying "O2 depleting" in a robotic voice and I looked at it wide eyed and started to bang on the door for help.

Maddison's POV

I woke up and saw that Kenya wasn't there so I figured that she went to the training deck so I got out of bed and got dressed to find her. I walked out of the room and headed down the hall. Once I got to the training deck the doors opened and I saw that the only one in there was Keith. He slashed the robot and it fell to the ground as he turned to face me. "Hey Maddison." He said and I walked over to him saying "Hi. Do you know where Kenya is?" He shook his head and said "We were in the containment room around 10 minutes ago and she said she was going to wake you up." I looked at him questioning until I noticed the robot rising from behind him and was about to slash him when a shot came from behind me.

I turned to see Lance there and he looked scared when he said "The castle is trying to kill us. Hunk and Pidge was attacked by food and had zero G while I got locked in a cryopod and almost sucked into space." I looked to see that Coran, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance were standing in the doorway. "Where are Kenya and Shiro?" I asked "Shiro had a bad encounter with Sendak and he went to find Allura and we were hoping that Kenya was with you." Coran said as he got a notification from his watch and read it in horror. "A supply closet down the hall is at 2% O2." I ran out of there as fast as I could.

Kenya's POV

It was really hard to breath and the corners of my vision were going black as I lay on the floor. An alarm was faintly ringing in my ears as it was saying 2% O2. I was trying to take the biggest breaths that I could as I lay on the floor. The lights were getting dimmer in my vision until the door opened and I felt a rush of air come in. Someone had picked me up and placed an oxygen mask on me and my vision was becoming clearer. I was able to sit up and I saw that everyone was there other than Allura and Shiro. "What the... The castle is trying to kill me!" I said and Maddie looked at me a little concerned and I realized I left my blade in the closet so I stood up slowly and Maddie helped me while saying "Kenya you really shouldn't be getting up." "I need to get something. Hunk can you hold the door open?" I responded. "Sure." He said while holding the door open.

I walked in and saw my blade on the ground and picked it up and it turned into its knife form. Maddie gave me a weird look and I told her I would explain later. We walked out and Coran said "Paladins the castle is about to wormhole!" I looked at him in shock and we headed to the control room at a fast rate of speed.

When we entered the control deck Allura was opening a wormhole to a blazing star. Shiro was standing on the other side of a force field that was blocking our path to Allura. I walked up to the force field and asked Allura "Allura what are you doing! You're going to kill us all." She looked back at me in a trance and said "I'm taking us home to Altea. Father said that Altea is still alive and we can go home." I looked back at Coran and he said that king Alfor's AI got infected by the crystal and we needed Allura to snap out of it.

Coran managed to get Allura out of the trance and they realized that they had to disconnect all of his memories in order to save everyone. Allura disappeared and we all headed to our lions to try to slow the ship down. Maddie was helping Coran to get ready to jump and get out of here before we blow up. Eventually, Allura told everyone to get into the castle so we could leave. I got into Gray's hanger just in time and we successfully made it to the other side of the wormhole.

Allura was really sad that she lost her father and locked herself in her room until dinner. It was quiet at dinner and I was really sore and tired so I headed to bed early. Maddie seemed a little concerned but I told her I was fine and I fell asleep.
