As Jungkook turned the doorknob and swung open his front door, he was taken aback by the unexpected sight that greeted him. Standing outside was Jin, tears streaming down his face, his emotions clearly visible.
"Seokjin, are you okay?" Jungkook asked, drawing nearer to him.
Jin shook his head, "I did something wrong, and I don't know how to fix it. I think you will not be happy because of what I did, but I didn't do it because I wanted to. I did it because I was told it was going to be okay, but I think I was told wrong-"
"Calm down, baby." Jungkook gently embraced Jin, drawing him closer, and locked eyes with him. "Now, please explain what you believe you did wrong that might cause me to become upset."
Jin wiped his nose and tried to get himself together before attempting to explain the situation to Jungkook. He really hoped that Jungkook would not be angry with him. "Earlier today, my mother called and told me that I had an appointment for dinner. I was not excited about going to dinner with the person they had scheduled for me to marry in the future, and I told my mother that you were the only one who fit my ideal style and there was no one else.
My mother understood, but she insisted that I should attend since the person was from a big family. I wanted to tell you about it before I left, but I didn't want to make my parents angry, so I went without telling you. Now that I'm back, I'm going to tell you about it, but before I went, I didn't want to go, so don't think I was trying to cheat because I wasn't doing that, and I would never do that."
Jungkook let out a deep sigh, his emotions weighing heavily on him. Seeking comfort, he embraced Jin tightly, finding solace in their embrace. Despite the turmoil in his mind, triggered by an unwelcome phone call, he chose to remain silent, keeping his thoughts to himself.
After what seemed like an extremely long period during which none of the two spoke to the other. The silence was broken by Jungkook, who said, "Let's go inside."
Jungkook led Jin into his apartment and guided him to his bedroom. He took the precaution of locking the door after entering, ensuring that Taehyung wouldn't interrupt their ongoing conversation, which showed no signs of reaching a conclusion anytime soon.
"How did you feel about the guy your parents had you meet?" Jungkook asked a question once they had both settled onto his bed.
Jin, while staring down at his hands, said, "he is not my style or someone I want to be with. I told him that I have you, but I don't think he understood what I was trying to explain to him. I don't know why my life is like this, Jungkook." As he glanced across at Jungkook, he voiced his thoughts. "I want to like you and no one else, but it's confusing that no one is understanding it."
"Seokjin, I believe you are aware of the reasons why they are not comprehending it. I am not someone whom your parents perceive as being good enough. It is evident that I understand, even without much difficulty. They want you to be with someone who can provide for you and offer you a comfortable lifestyle. Things that you are accustomed to and enjoy."
"You take care of me; you bring me to new places. You make my heart happy. You are my style, my everything; why is that not understandable? I feel so not understood. Do you understand me?" Jin questioned, curious to know Jungkook's thoughts.
Jungkook nodded and said, "I do, but the more I think about it... It is obvious that our world is unique, and as a result, our desires often exceed what is realistically attainable."
"What do you mean by that?"
Jungkook sighed and gently reached out, holding Jin's hand. "I believe it would be wise for you to consider your parents' wishes and follow their guidance. I don't want to be the cause of your parents' disappointment in you. You are fortunate to have your parents present and involved in your life, and I don't want to be the cause of them being absent."
