Jin inhaled deeply, trying to recall what was important about his presence at the dinner. After returning home from being away for so long, he couldn't help but wish Jungkook had been there with him. He was unable to avoid feeling frustrated that despite being married to Jungkook, they had to hide their relationship.
It didn't make things any easier that Jimin couldn't accompany him because he had to rush home to his parents at the last moment. As Jin gazed around the home where he was raised, his eyes roamed as thoughts flooded his mind. His favorite safe haven had transformed into a place where he no longer found solace. He believed he could be his true self around his parents and feel loved for who he was. However, going off to university taught him valuable lessons, especially about his father.
This caused him quite a bit of hurt, and even though he didn't always express it, he clung to the hope that his father would one day have confidence in him, just like his mother did. His life felt incomplete without being able to celebrate his marriage with Jungkook the way he desired. He was eager to share it with his father, but circumstances prevented him from doing so, causing him more emotional pain than he was comfortable revealing.
Now, seated at a dinner table, waiting for Min's son to join, he found it all rather pointless. Nevertheless, he decided to have trust in the process and hope that things would resolve themselves in due time.
"I'm glad you're home, Seokjin. Yoongi couldn't wait to see you once more. I sense a strong connection between the two of you." Minwoo beamed at his son as he spoke.
Jin let out a sigh and offered a small smile to his father, making a conscious effort to avoid saying anything that might cause something to happen to Jungkook. That was the sole factor preventing him from speaking his mind. After conversing and gaining valuable insights from Jimin, he realized the importance of reflecting on his actions and the potential effects they might have on Jungkook.
"I am sorry I am late; I had a meeting that ran longer than expected." Yoongi declared as he entered the room. Upon spotting Seokjin, a smile immediately spread across his face. "Seokjin, it's wonderful to see you again. I've been thinking about you often since our last meeting. I thought about reaching out to you, but I wanted to be considerate as I am aware of the expectations our parents have for us." Yoongi's grin never left his face as he gazed at Jin and took a seat beside him.
Once more, with a restrained smile, Jin looked over at Yoongi and greeted him, "It's good to see you again, Yoongi."
Minwoo grinned as he gazed at the pair in front of him. Meanwhile, Jisook remained fixated on her phone to distract her attention, feeling troubled by everything and trying to remain composed.
"Mr and Mrs. Kim, I appreciate your help in arranging this meeting. I understand it must have been challenging, especially with Seokjin's busy school schedule."
"It wasn't too hard; we had wished it could have happened earlier, but what's important is that we have you both here now. We are pleased that you and our Seokjin have developed a mutual interest." Minwoo smiled, feeling satisfied with the progress he had made and confident that his father would be proud of his work.
Yoongi grinned, his hand subtly sliding under the table to rest on Jin's thigh while gazing at him. "I'm glad to hear that," he said. "At first, I had doubts when my parents suggested introducing me to someone, but meeting Seokjin changed my mind completely. I believe we would be an ideal match." As he spoke, his hand casually brushed against Jin's thigh.
Jin attempted to move in his seat gradually, but Yoongi's firm hand on his thigh kept him in place as he took a deep breath. He felt a strong urge to scream, but he made a conscious decision to remember Jimin's words. He was reluctant to do anything that might hurt Jungkook.
