The ground was still wet as we walked to my house.
Everything looked as if time itself was a statue. People were in the middle of conversations or in the middle of every day tasks. I just hoped that my mom and David weren't home. But I hoped Penelope was home. I want Nerium, or any other woman, to at least severely injure her. That thought calmed my nerves.
Ashley was still scared out of her wits and she still gripped my hand like it was her lifeline. The others walked behind me and Ashley. I could hear them murmuring to each other. All that I could hear were several words whenever they, mostly Erna, got loud.Something about "protecting us" or "killing us". I didn't know if they were talking about me and Ashley or someone else. Ashley seemed to have heard the same thing as I did because she thought Oh God and squeezed my hand harder. I thought that I should be scared of this but for some reason I didn't feel scared by this. In fact I felt empowered.
I haven't felt this powerful in a long time. I like this. I don't think they are talking about me and Ashley, they have had plenty of opportunities to hurt either of us. Ashley wasn't having the same thought as I was.
They're going to kill us. I know it.I wanted to tell her what I thought of the situation, but before I got the chance to a blinding light appeared in front of us. I could hear Nerium growl behind us. As the light manifested things started to get wild.
The air became cold and the ground started to freeze in front of us. Yet behind us the air grew uncomfortably hot and the ground turned to ash. How are we still alive? That's when I noticed that a light green shimmer was surrounding us and that Claudia was directly behind us. I didn't feel so empowered anymore.
Me and Ashley turned to each other and then behind us. Nerium looked 100% pissed at what-or-whoever the light was. The others were having slight issues holding her back. By the time we looked forwards again the light was gone.Instead a tall man stood where the light was. He was pale and resembled Nerium in the aspect of his skin tone and height, but that was about it. His pure white hair reached to his shoulders and he had piercing ice blue eyes. He looked like someone took a block of ice and personified it.
His voice didn't help either as he spoke with a cold tone.
"I am Casimir" he said. He stared at Ashley with a look of intent. I didn't know what 'intent' that was because his mind was blocked from me. But Ashley stared back at him with a look of awe and wonder. Her thoughts were like mine when Tristesse appeared.Nerium was still angered by the mysterious males presence. He made eye contact with her and a black and white shockwave pushed all of us backwards, some frozen people even fell over. Nerium was free of the others grasp. As she stormed past me and Ashley, I could finally see her left eye, it was actually kind of uneventful.
Her left eye was a deep black, like a pool of shadow that heavily contrasted against her white sclera and her right glowed a menacing silver. Her deep black hair pulsed a familiar crimson. She walked right up to him giving off thirty summer's worth of heat. Casimir's eyes were a glowing gold color and his hair pulsed an icy blue. He stood still giving off enough cold that would make even the coldest desert jealous. They had a massive silent staredown, while all if us were constantly knocked back with shockwaves."Casimir, why are you here?" Tristesse asked the ice block when she got a grip of herself. "I have simply come to collect" he responded with a glance at the deathly pale female and at Ashley. Ashley began walking towards him like a mind-controlled puppy, but she wasn't in fact she was walking towards him by her own volition. That's what bothered me the most. I stared at her as she walked through Claudia's magic and stood next to the ice block. Nerium and Casimir were still having a staredown, when Ashley stopped next to him.
He smiled with a smirk before saying "Have a nice day little sister" and vanishing in a flash of light taking Ashley with him. Nerium relaxed the moment he was gone and the temperature went back to normal. I continued to stare at the now vacant spot where my closest friend once stood. Claudia noticed my expression and took a glance at the other three women. I was close to livid at this point.
"Can you-" Claudia started before I interrupted "You all have some explaining to do." I continued the walk home with the four women tailing me in silence. When we were a few blocks from my house I heard Tristesse say "Oh, I almost forgot." This was followed by the sound of her snapping her fingers as we walked. Everything unpaused and although some people looked a bit confused they all went back to their regular tasks. I was glad to hear the sounds of people and their thoughts.
As we began walking down the avenue I brooded about everything that had happened today. When I got to the front door I turned around and stared at the women behind me. I was afraid that my mother, David, or Penelope were home, but I wanted explanations. So I unlocked the door and stood in front of the open doorway. The others stayed where they were.
"Come in." I said.
