I lit a cigarette while resting my head against the window watching the beautiful leaves turn color on my way to upstate New York. I could see why so many people loved this area, it really is breathtaking. I'm really nervous seeing Cynthia again for so many reasons.I truly love her and want her in my arms but I've got to tell her she's pregnant unless she already knows. I don't know the legal protocol but now there are two medical facilities that she was in and neither of them informed her of being pregnant. I know I asked them not to tell her because I wanted to be the one but I'm not quite sure if that was a legal thing to do. How many perks do I get being Freddie Fucking Mercury?
I've never been on the Palisades Parkway before and I was told that it would be less than two hours to New Paltz. The Palisades were steep hills above the Hudson River. Both Miami and Giuliani sequested her at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. It was perfect, out of the way, private and with medical facilities on the grounds, just in case anything happened. Oh, only one hour to go.
Will she come back with me to London or will she demand to stay in New York? I think a panic attack is setting in.
"Uh, could you pull over please I need to get some fresh air for a bit" Freddie asked.
The driver found an area and pulled over as Freddie got out and took a deep breath and looked around. There was this slight clearing ahead and as he walked towards it, he bent down and picked up a fallen branch and slashed away at the brush until he arrived at the opening. He found that he was at a precipice on the parkway and it was overlooking the Hudson River. It was a clear night and the moon cast a shimmer on the river resulting in a royal blue glaze with the golden reflections of the moon. It was serene. Freddie continued to slash into the air and his mind transported back to his days with Kash at their secret place on the beach in Stonetown called the Kingdom of Rhye.
He was lost in thought until he heard his driver calling his name. He shook his head and threw the branch down and made his way back to the car. Saying nothing to the driver, he entered and sat back and wistfully looked at the sky. Freddie closed his eyes and took a much needed snooze. It seems his body never required hours of sleep but the past few days were harrowing.
"Freddie, the sign is up ahead and we are approaching."
MOHONK MOUNTAIN HOUSE.
"We might be leaving tomorrow, so stay nearby. If they have a room here, charge it to my name, if not find a local motel and again charge it to my name. Call in tomorrow morning and I will let you know what the plans are, and make sure you get some dinner." Freddie said.
Upon entering the spa, Freddie was touched by the warmth of the lobby. Not because of the many fireplaces roaring and not because of the colors of the interiors, because the room exuded a feeling of serenity and well-being.
At the reception desk he asked for Cynthia Lewis' room.
"Oh, you're Freddie Mercury" the receptionist said.
"Yes, yes I am dear, Ms.Lewis please.' Freddie said.
"Um, we have no Miss Lewis registered" she said.
"WHAT!" Freddied shouted.
"LET ME SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER!" he shouted.
Upon hearing the commotion the manager ran over o the desk to see what was happening.
"Oh, Mr. Mercury" said Mr. Henry, the manager.
"Why do you people keep on saying that? Yes yes I'm Mr. Mercury, now where is my fiance Cynthia Lewis?
"Ah, Mr Mercury, follow me to my office please" said the manager.
"Now listen to me, I have just driven two hours from New York City to be with my fiance, Cynthia Lewis. Her stay here was arranged by Jim Beach and Rudy Giuliani. What seems to be the trouble Mr. Henry?" Said an exasperated Freddie.
"Now please Mr. Mercury, calm down we are just following orders. We had very specific orders concerning Miss Lewis. Her whereabouts are extremely guarded."
"Yes, yes, of course, I know that. Now Giuliani told me where she was and I need to be with her. Is she all right. How is her health?"
"She's perfect, Mr. Mercury."
"Freddie!"
"I beg your pardon"
"Please call me Freddie"
"Oh. Ahem, yes, she is in extremely good health and I believe, Freddie, she is enjoying her stay here."
"She's staying in the Amber Suite and I'll have a porter show you the way" the manager lifted the receiver to call, but Freddie quickly shut him down.
"Please, I want to surprise her."
The manager nodded and Freddie followed the porter to the Amber Suite.
Cynthia had just stepped out of the shower when she heard knocking at her door. It was late and who could possibly be visiting her at this hour? She tightened her robe and went to the door asking who was there.
"Porter, Ms. Lewis."
She opened the door and gasped, as Freddie walked towards and said, "Hiya babe."
"Freddie" she whispered, as she flung herself at him. The porter smiled, satisfied that Ms. Lewis knew Freddie and walked away.
Freddie lifted her as she clung to him and kicked the door shut. Her hands raked through his hair and brought his face down to hers. Their lips crashed onto each other as Cynthia's robe became undone.
"Oh Freddie, Freddie" as he press his forehead against Cynthia and his arm slipped around her waist. He kissed Cynthia again as he slipped her robe off her body. His lips nuzzled into her neck as he pulled her closer to him. He kept her so close that she felt his hardness happening.
"Wait Freddie, I can't think."
"Well, I don't want you to. Darling, I missed you so much.
He lifted my leg and held it against his hip as he pressed closer.
I pushed hm away and reached for my robe.
"Cynthia, what...?" Freddie asked puzzled. "You don't love me anymore, you don't want me."
"Don't be an idiot, you're my life, but we need to talk"
She tightened her robe and poured him a glass of wine and told him to sit on the sofa.
"Freddie, what is going on? What has gone on? Who shot me, where is Prenter? Why was I whisked away to this place? I need these answers, and I want them now!"
Freddie stood up and removed his jacket and issued a rather loud sigh, he really didn't want to have this conversation right now but he's being forced into it.
" Darling, you remember all that nastiness we had with Paul Prenter, New Scotland Yard and having to go to New York? Well to make an extremely long story short, Prenter wanted me. Now in all honesty, the shot wasn't meant for you and it did go off accidentally. You were taken to the hospital and examined. Rudy Giuliani asked me to help the State of New York in catching Paul Prenter. They were pretty sure he was involved in drug trafficking and they had to get you out of the way because we didn't know how far reaching this was. I needed to keep you safe. Paul thought we had broken up and I went clubbing with him at night. We orchestrated a sting to catch Prenter and his drugs. It did just that, Prenter is under arrest and I came immediately to find you. Now I would fill in all the gaps later on but I have more pressing matters to deal with. There's something that I must tell you, and I hope you won't be too angry with me."
"Freddie, my love, I need to talk with you also. I've been so worried and I missed you so much. I have things to talk to you about as well."
"Well, that's fine Cynthia, but just let me talk to you now"
"Freddie I want to talk to you as well"
"Well, me first darling"
"No, ladies first darling"
"CYNTHIA!"
"FREDDIE!"
"All right" Freddie said. "Let's tell each other at the same time."
The tension was mounting between them as they both blurted out at the same time,
"I'm pregnant!/You're pregnant!"
