ELTON JOHN'S KITCHEN AT HOLLAND PARK

This is a very short fun chapter!  A little out of the ordinary. You know by now, my penchant for sex, food and humor. Not necessarily in that order. Just to ease the tension a little, get your pens and pencils out to copy this recipe. You will thank me for it.  ENJOY!

The QUEEN boys arrived at Eltons a little on edge. What could they possibly do for Fred? Elton's butler showed them into the dining room and Elton waltzed in wearing a kimona that Freddie had bought for him during his last tour in Japan.

"Did anyone speak with Freddie?" John asked. "I phoned, but he hasn't returned my call. Phoebe said he was sulking around and being very moody."

"Nope" Roger quipped. "I know when to stay away from Fred" as he shoveled some salad into his mouth. "This is really good Elton, what is it?"

"It's beet and goat cheese salad, one of my favorites. Perfect for you Brian, unless you have an aversion to goat cheese." Elton said.

"No, not really." Brian answered.

'I'll get you all the recipe" Elton quipped. "I'll have cook write it  out for all of you."

"Really delicious, I'll take the recipe for Ronnie. She's always trying to get me to eat something other than cheese toast." Chuckled John. "She would be thrilled to make this for me."

Elton's Beet Salad

8 oz. beets, peeled and grated

Greens of your choice cut into ribbons

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

2 tbs. sugar

1 1/2 tsp. each of coriander and mustard seeds.

3 Tbs. extra virgin olive oil

2 tsp. honey

Toasted walnuts and crumbled warm goat cheese for garnish

Mix vinegar, sugar, honey, olive  oil and seeds. Pour over beets and let sit overnight. Place pickled beets over greens and garnish with nuts and goat cheese.  Enjoy!

"Okay mates, salad, cheese, whatnot. Come on, we need to talk about Fred." said Bri, slightly annoyed watching both John and Roger pigging out.

"But it's really good Bri" said Roger with a mouthful of beets and juice oozing down his chin. He had three red strips below his mouth and he looked like a candy cane.

"Dammit, Rog, stop stuffing yourself and limit yourself to the matter at hand.  FRED!" Bri yelled. "You can't have this rock icon going around and spanking women or even saying that in public. Think of what the tabloids would do with that story and possibly getting a photo."

Roger stared at Brian as he helped himself to more salad.

John, of course, just observed as usual, and kept his mouth shut although he did hit Roger in the head with his napkin. Elton cleared his throat to gain attention. He was glad they like his salad, but Brian was right, they have got to come up with a solution concerning Freddie and Cynthia.

"What if we get them together in a room?" Roger said.

"They were just together and you saw how that turned out." John answered.

"No" Brian said, "that won't do." "I really feel like locking them together in a room."

"One thing Freddie is not" Elton said, "is an idiot. He will know something is up. You know, about this logically, maybe we should let it run its course and not really get involved."

"I agree with you Elton" Brian said, but John had a strange look on his face. He knew more than the rest how Freddie felt 2 years ago and although  he truly loved Freddie, he didn't think any of them should get involved. It would end disastrously.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Freddie had the week off as they weren't rehearsing at Wessex. He thought he would fly to Montreux for the week and revisit his beloved Duck House and just chill out. It was one of the few places on this earth that Freddie could be himself, walk freely and not be accosted by fans or paparazzi. He told Phoebe to make arranagements and pack a bag for the week.

The more Freddie thought about going away the more he thought about Cynthia. This is crazy, he thought. I need to talk with her.

Sorry for the wee chapter but I needed to segue into the next chapter which is very long. Besides, diversity is good when writing about Freddie because there is soooooo much to write about. Pun indeed intended.
