"Freddie calm down, there must be an explanation. We will get to the bottom of it" Furman said.
"Fuck this, I'm calling Rudi Guliani?" Freddie said as he walked out of the Director's office.
"Freddie, you have got to calm down and look at this situation rationally or else we will can't go forward" Marvin told Freddie.
"You don't understand, Marvin" Freddie said softly with tears in his eyes,
"I do understand actually. You love her Freddie" Banner replied.
Freddie just looked at Marvin and nodded.
"Let's find Furman and use his office as a command post"
"Let's go." Freddie said as he ran to Furman's office and walked in without knocking.
"Richard, may we use you office for a bit. I have to make many important phones calls" Freddie said.
The doctor arose from behind his desk, gather some folders and said, "The office is yours Freddie. Please let me know if you need my assistance for anything, and please, keep me and the Director in the loop."
Freddie nodded as he sat down and told Banner to pull up a chair to sit next to him. He rummaged around his desk to find a pad and pen.
"Marvin, would you please take some notes for me."
Freddie picked up the phone and dialed Jim Beach.
"Jim, Cynthia's gone! I don't know if she's been kidnapped or what, but she's not here and the hospital has no record of her ever being here. I'm going to need you and the boys to be here with me. I need all the support I can get. AND WHERE WAS THE FUCKIN' BODYGUARD YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO GET FOR CYNTHIA, GOD DAMMIT MIAMI, YOU....."
"Freddie, shut up for a second, of course I obtained security for her. Let me look into that on my end. I'll tell the boys, stay calm and I'll see you in a bit."
He hired security for her? This is getting more confusing and sinister. What am I going to do, I never told her she was pregnant. What if she gets hurt, loses the child, dear God, it will be my fault.
"Snap out of it Freddie, who do you want to call next?" Marvin asked.
"Guiliani" Freddie said.
"Rudy Guliani, you're kidding?"
"Why would I kid about a thing like that. Get me an outside line please"
Freddie retrieved a card from his pocket and dialed Guiliani's private number.
"Guiliani"
"Rudy, this is Freddie"
"Er, Mercury"?
"How many Freddies do you know Rudy?"
"All right Freddie, calm down. What's up?"
Why is everybody telling me to calm down. Is New York so layback? I think not.
"Rudy, I'm at the hospital and Cynthia is missing and apparently, according to them, she was never here." What the fuck is going on?"
"Uh, listen Freddie, I'm tied up right now, I will get back to you as soon as possible" and saying that Rudy Guliani hung up on Freddie.
"Marvin something weird is going on. Get my driver, we are going to Pearl Street to see Guliani in person, then call Miami and tell him where we are going."
