The heart's healing is an art that requires courage and wisdom,
To take responsibility for our own decisions.
It's a journey through fire, where grief and regret are the only choir,
And we sit in our room, with emptiness inside, a glutton for solace, with nowhere to hide.

We leave behind the habits and people we miss,
But the urge to go back, to reminisce, persists.
It hurts more than we can ever know,
Heavy heart, with nowhere to go.

We close our eyes, wishing for a better tomorrow,
Some days worse, some days okay, with sorrow.
We let go of things we shouldn't keep,
But good memories make us wonder and weep.

Grieving now doesn't mean we won't get better,
Hold on to hope, and let your heart unfetter.

As Charles Bukowski wrote in his poem:

"How is Your Heart?"
"What matters most is how well you walk through the fire."

As the ancient Chinese poet Li Bai wrote:

"Amidst the flowers, I contemplate life's journey,
And my heart is heavy with sorrow and regret.
But I know that time will heal my wounds,
And I will find joy in the beauty of the world."

The heart's healing is an art that requires us to walk through the fire with our head held high, and arms outstretched to others who might be dusting off embers of their own. It's a journey that humbles us, shapes us, and burns life as we knew it to the ground. But it's also a journey that can lead us to gratitude, forgiveness, and a fierce independence that motivates us to get out and see the world.

So push yourself to list the things you are grateful for, even when small graces are few and far between. Walk through the fire with courage and wisdom, and let your new story surprise you.
