The five of kids were underwater hiding behind a few pieces of large seaweeds while watching loak interact with payakan. They all couldn't believe their eyes, for some reason everyone expected payakan to attack the stupid boy.
Payakan opened his mouth allowing loak swim inside, Elei tried to swim forward but she was stopped by aonung wrapping his arm around her waist.
They watched as loak slowly swam in, when suddenly payakan clamped his mouth shut. Neteyam swam forward but was pulled back by aonung and tsireya. Neteyam looked at the girl but calmed down when he seen her do the sign for stop.
After a while of watching Loak came out and got onto the tulkuns fin, "I'm so sorry" loak told payakan as he hugged him. Payakan let out a long deep wail, "it's okay it's okay" Loak repeated while rubbing his skin.
Back at the village...
Everyone slid off of their ilus and walked out of the water. Both of the kids parents were sitting there staring at all of them. "Come with me, all of you" tonowari demanded while walking back to his marui.
As soon as everyone entered the marui Ronal turned around and pointed a finger at tsireya, "you allowed this, you allowed him to bond with the outcast!"
Tsireya tilted her head as tears filled her eyes. Tonowari stepped in front of Ronal and peered down at the timid girl, "tsireya...you disappoint me daughter" he lowly stated before walking over to Loak. "And you, son of a great warrior who has been taught better"
Loak looked into his eyes showing not an ounce of respect, "sir payakan saved my life, you don't know him" he argued making everyone shake their heads.
"No Loak" tsireya whispered as tears fell from her eyes. Tonowari pointed to the ground "sit down" he ordered the youngest sully boy while he too squatted down.
All the other kids stood around until tonowari shouted "sit down" he pointed at all of them making the girls flinch.
The chief placed his fingers on his lips before blowing roughly, "hear my words boy in the days of the first songs the tulkuns fought amongst themselves for territory and revenge" he began telling all of them a story.
Ronal paced behind her mate with her hand on her chest. "But they came to believe that killing no matter how justified only brings more killing, so it was forbidden. This is the tulkun way so payakan is a killer so he is outcast."
Loak looked the man in the eyes "sorry sir but you are wrong" he defended his spirit brother. Elei gasped "Loak stop it right now!" She scolded while glaring at him.
Neytiris mouth fell open at her son's blatant disrespect "loak! This is olo'eytkan you speak to" she reminded him. Loak shrugged "I know what I-" the boy was cut off by Jake "that's enough" Jake stood up and walked over to loak but he repeated himself. "I know what I know"
Ronal snarled at him disliking his disrespect towards her mate. Jake bent down next to Loak burning holes into the side of his face "that's enough!" He shouted yanking him up by the arm and dragging him out of the Marui to speak with him privately.
Tsireya closed her eyes and sniffled as her parents words repeatedly played in her mind. Ronal closed her eyes and sighed "Elei miula ney'sulli, you are constantly around my son yet you have learned nothing about payakan!" She yelled startling tsireya and Kiri.
Elei kept her eyes glued to the floor to avoid seeming disrespectful. She didn't want to give them anymore reasons to outcast her family, especially since Loak has already caused a lot of issues for the sullys within the clan.
"I have learned to free dive and catch fish if that counts" she whispered sarcastically. Ronal placed a hand on her stomach as she paced back and forth. Aonung looked at Elei with tears in his eyes, he blamed himself for dragging her in this mess. Ronals eyes shifted over to Neytiri, "your daughter lacks manners and elegance!"
Elei looked over her shoulder at her mother whose nose creased as she let out a warning hiss to Ronal. "My daughter has a strong heart, do not speak ill of her" Neytiri snarled through gritted teeth.
Ronal hissed back lowly before fixing her eyes onto the group of hunters that were crowding around the outside of her Marui. She walked out after tonowari and looked around with no emotion on her face, "what is the meaning of all of this?" She asked.
A metikyina woman stepped forward and looked down "Ronal, your tulkun and her baby have been murdered by the sky people"
A shaky breath fell out of Ronals teal lips, tonowaris entire body went numb at the news of his mates spirit sister and her baby being killed by the sky people.
"Bring me to where my spirit sister lays!"
