Chapter 2
Vikrant took the picture of Jiya from Mallika Sharma's file and kept in his pocket. He didn't know why he had liked her so much. It was not just her looks that attracted him towards her.
There was something different in her that he had never seen in a girl. She was a deadly combination of water and fire. Both things were opposite to each other in nature and that's what makes her special.
When he came home from the office in the evening, Abha was teaching Anu to play the guitar. Both often practiced music in the evenings. Because of Abha, Vikrant was never been worried about his children. He knew she would always be there to take care of his children.
On seeing Vikrant, Anu came close to him and hugged him. "Daddy, you came early from the office today? Are you going to a party again?"
"Mr. Khurana has a party at his house, so I have to go there. If I don't, he will feel bad. Don't get angry. I won't be away for long; I'll be back soon."
Then came Mayank. "Oh! Daddy, that's what you say every time when you go to the party."
"Don't you start now? How are your studies going on? Later, I will take your report from Abha."
"It is going well. Aunt Abha will give you a good report. Isn't it aunt?"
She started laughing after hearing this.
"Mayank is becoming naughtier day by day. I guess I will have to pull his ears."
"Aunt, no one pulls the ears of older children."
"No matter how old you become, you will always be a child to me. Let's go to the room and finish your homework; I'll just come and see."
"Okay Aunt."
Vikrant went to his room to get ready. He didn't like to go to parties. The special reason for going to Mr. Khurana's party was that Mallika Sharma was also coming with her daughter, and he did not want to miss the opportunity to see Jiya.
Before leaving for the party, he told her, "Abha, I will come home late from the party. Don't wait for me at the dinner table, and put the children to sleep on time."
"But you said you'd be back soon."
"Try to understand, Abha, I said that to make them happy."
He smiled, expressed gratitude to Abha for taking care of his children, and went to the party.
After the death of Neera, she took care of his house and his children. Soon they became friends, sharing laughter and sorrow with each other. In these eleven years, she didn't realize that she had developed feelings for him. Now she wanted to tell him about her feelings for him, but Vikrant was too busy to listen.
Anu had heard the words of Abha and Vikrant. He had lied to her, saying that he would come home soon. She understood that the real reason for going to the party was something else. Nowadays, she doesn't know why she has a feeling that her father is drifting away from her and Mayank. She could not imagine anyone else in her father's life except her mother. She didn't want another woman in his life. She was quite against the idea of having a stepmother.
The party had a fantastic mood. There was alcohol and beauty everywhere. Vikrant's eyes were looking for Mallika Sharma and her daughter Jiya after meeting everyone. Someone tapped him on the back at that same moment. Mallika Sharma was standing behind him.
"Mr.Vikrant It seems your eyes are looking for someone special. May I have the pleasure of knowing her name?"
Vikrant smiled. "Why would I look for someone else when I have beautiful Mallika standing near me?"
She started laughing. "You are a big flirt. Anyway, how are you?"
"I am good. What about you?"
"The day I met you, I was only thinking about you."
"Now you are flirting, Mrs. Mallika."
"I am not flirting, just telling the truth."
"Meeting you at the party that day had a lasting impression on me. You are so humble , despite being the owner of such a big company. I don't believe any other businessman does as much to help the needy as you do. This is truly admirable."
"Mrs. Mallika, now you are exaggerating. Stop flattering me. You came to the party alone; your daughter didn't come?"
"She's here; she's looking at us. I'll bring her here to meet you."
Mallika called Jiya to meet him. She introduced her to Vikrant.
"This is my daughter, Jiya, and Jiya, he is Vikrant Kapoor, owner of Kapoor Construction." Both of them said hello to each other. Somebody called Mallika, and she went there to talk.
Vikrant breathed a sigh of relief as Mallika left.
"Are you done with your studies?"
"Yes, I just finished college. I have a bachelor's in mass communication."
"Wow! It's a great course."
Yeah!
"What do you plan to do after that?"
"I want to do the masters."
Vikrant asked, looking around at Jiya.
"Are you thinking of leaving this party?"
"Ha-ha. Are you a face reader? How did you come to know about this?"
"I saw this in your eyes. Your eyes speak the language of your heart."
"Honestly speaking, I am also feeling bored here. Let's go somewhere."
"Where?"
"Let's go to the beach. I love the sea."
"Me too. Let's go. I feel suffocated here. First, I will leave from here, and then, after ten minutes, you will leave. I'll meet you outside in the parking lot."
Meeting Jiya in a hushed manner had created a different thrill in Vikrant. He felt younger, almost equal to Jiya's age. Getting out of the party by lying, that too with a beautiful girl, his emotions were on high.
