Chapter 26

As soon as Jiya was shifted to the ward, Vikrant had gone out of station due to office work for a week. He didn't show much interest in talking on the phone with her. She was angry with Vikrant's attitude, and he was angry with her carelessness and stubborn behavior.

During this time, Abha came to visit her in the hospital twice with children. Anu and Mayank had tears in their eyes when they saw Jiya in bad condition.

When Mayank called her mom, she had tears in her eyes. Both of them used to come to meet with Rahul, sometimes even without Abha. Rahul used to come to meet her every morning with flowers. A close relationship developed between the two. Because of her mother, children, and Rahul, Vikrant's rude behavior used to bother her less. After a few days, she was discharged from the hospital.

Her health was gradually improving, but emotionally, she was not happy. She stopped talking and started staying in the room more. He avoided conversing with her. She began to feel suffocated in this relationship.

Vikrant started ignoring her. He would often sit in Anu and Mayank's room until late at night and talk to them. Sometimes he forgets to go to the children's room due to fatigue, but Abha never forgets to call him on the pretext of children to spend more time with him.

Jiya was becoming silent day by day; she was losing zeal for life. She was feeling depressed. Whereas Abha began to pay attention to her clothes and her appearance.

Anu and Abha were going out for shopping when Rahul said, "today I want to call Abha aunt only Abha. You are looking so beautiful."

"Stop exaggerating, Rahul; I look exactly the same as I do every day."

Mayank said, "No, Aunt, today you are looking better than usual."

Vikrant also agreed with him on this.

"Mayank is right. Abha, you are looking really pretty today."

Hearing this, a smile came on Abha's face, but the color on Jiya's face disappeared.

She went to her room without giving any response, and after some time, Vikrant too.

Jiya said, "I need to talk to you."

"About what?"

"About our relationship."

"Say whatever you want to say? I'm listening."

"Though we are living together in this room, I feel you are far away from me. You completely ignored me during my illness. You left me alone and went out of station on the pretext of office work; this has hurt me a lot. You have not lost the baby alone; I have lost it too."

"Stop pretending, Jiya, that you are really sad about losing our baby. You didn't want a baby from the beginning. In a way, you have benefited from the accident. You got rid of the child because you never wanted to have one."

"If I wanted to get rid of the child, I would have gotten an abortion done. Why would I put my life in danger by having an accident?"

"If you had had an abortion done, you would have become a sinner in your own eyes and in the eyes of others. While the accident also fulfilled your purpose, you also got everyone's sympathy."

"Even in my weirdest imagination, I never expected that you would think so lowly of me. You loved me so much; what happened to you all of a sudden? Why are you blaming me?

What we lost was not just mine or yours; it was ours. The child was part of our body. I am a straight-forward person. What is in my heart is also on my tongue.

If I don't have the right to express my true feelings in our relationship, then this relationship has no meaning. I thought you were more of a friend than a husband. I thought you would understand me, but...

Well, if I'm guilty in your eyes, I'm fine with it. I can't live my whole life with you like this. If the love in your heart for me is gone, I am ready to leave this house. I don't want anything in return. Please let me know of your decision by tomorrow morning."

"Suddenly, the anger in Vikrant's eyes was replaced by tears."

"How do I explain it to you? I have Anu and Mayank, but I wanted our child to be a reflection of me and you. Maybe I am not able to make you understand my feelings properly.

If I tell you to go tomorrow morning, will you go?"

"I came to this house as your wife because you loved me, but now that you do not love me, there is no point in staying in this house."

"Let's say I don't love you, but do you love me?"

"Yes, I love you and will always do so."

"I wasn't there when you needed me the most. You still say you love me; why?"

"Yeah, it hurt me a lot and probably always will. Yes, you were not with me physically, but you were still taking care of me from far away. Along with talking to the doctors in the morning and evening, you also used to ask about my condition. Although we used to talk only for a few seconds in those days, we talked. Problems are there between every husband and wife, but the whole life cannot be spent being angry with each other, Vikrant?

I want to live with your love, not resentment. Yes, I love you even after your rude behavior."

As soon as he felt Jiya's loving touch on his lips, his anger began to subside. The two were so engrossed in loving each other that they did not know when the night had passed.

Both of them woke up so late in the morning that the children had gone to school, and Rahul had also left for the gym.

Breakfast was also served in the room. The glow of Abha's face had lost its sheen in front of Jiya's beauty again today.

After Vikrant went to work, Jiya was sitting in the hall and reading the newspaper. Seeing Abha getting ready and going out, she sarcastically greeted her with a smile.

"You are looking a little pale today, Abha. What happened? Yesterday, you were shining like a star."

"Nothing is permanent in life. This is just the color; if it has descended today, it will shine again tomorrow."

Abha walked out of the house, smiling.
