Chapter 58
Tears welled up in Jiya's eyes. When Vikrant tried to hug her, she stopped him from coming near her.
She said it in anger, "You have lost this right. If you had come to take me even after a few months of that incident, I would have happily come with you. It took you a year to come to me.
You threw me out of the house during my pregnancy and threatened me, too, that you would not let me live in peace in this city. Have you ever thought about what would have happened to me if my mother had not supported me?
How would I have survived?Vikrant, in the state of pregnancy, you kicked me out of the house and proved that men are men. Neither money nor education can change their mindset.
You always used the wrong words for my mom and always stopped me from going to her house. But in times of trouble, she came to rescue me and supported me. She proved that all other relationships are false except the parent-child relationship.
Misjudging a woman just because she has the courage to live life on her own terms is not right. I am proud to be Mallika Sharma's daughter."
Vikrant was silent for the first time; he had nothing in his defense to say. Jiya was right. He didn't trust his wife or his children. His children were smarter than him.
"You considered yourself wise and cunning; you were proud of being 'The Vikrant Kapoor'. In your own house, your kids nanny was conspiring against your wife under your nose to break your marriage, and you did not know.
There was such a blindfold of her good-heartedness on your eyes, which did not open even after seeing the evidence in front of your eyes. The extent of blind trust is so great that even if God said that Abha was wrong, you would not have believed him."
Vikrant felt as if he had been in a deep sleep for so long, and now his eyes had opened. He was finding it difficult to face Jiya at this time. He went out for a walk. After he left, Jiya cried for a while, then wiped her tears and went to work. She was feeling better after venting out her anger at Vikrant. It seemed as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her heart.
Mallika and Aman had also come home with Jivika, but Vikrant had not returned yet. Aman went home after dinner. Mallika was playing with Jivika, and Jiya was waiting for Vikrant.
When it was too late, she called him. "Where are you? Come home; it's late at night."
"It's only ten o'clock. I'm in the park only. There's no need to panic. I'm going to sit for a while. You sleep."
"Hmmm." After talking to him, she went downstairs to pick up Vikrant. He was sitting quietly on a bench in a corner of the park.
"Vikrant, let's go home. It's so late."
"If you want to divorce me, then why are you so worried about me?"
"You're in my house right now. If something happens to you, I will be under suspicion."
"Is this the only thing, or do you still care about me?"
"Don't think so much. Let's go."
"Hmmm. Just give me your hand to get up; your husband is old."
"Stop talking nonsense; you look fitter than ever."
"What does that mean?" He has a twinkle of mischief in his eyes.
"Oh! Vikrant Please get up now. I have to go to school in the morning."
"Okay, let's go."
On reaching home, he asked, "Where's my daughter?"
"She's in my mom's room, playing with her."
Jiya put two plates on the dining table for herself and Vikrant.
"Why haven't you eaten yet?"
"You are the father of my daughter; at least this much I can do for you. We both failed as husband and wife; at least we can behave like good parents."
"Hmmm."
After dinner, Jiya took Jivi to her room to sleep. She was trying to put her to sleep, but she was still in a playful mood. Jiya left her with Vikrant and slept peacefully. They had taken Jivika twice out for a walk.
Vikrant loved spending time at Sukhna Lake. The time spent with his wife and daughter was precious to him. While staying here, Vikrant did not know when the week had passed. He was sitting with Jivika near Sukhna Lake, he called Anu.
"Hi Anu, How are you and Mayank? Is everything alright?"
"Daddy, we're both fine, but when are you coming home?"
"I will come soon. Where's Abha?"
"She's not at home."
"Where is Mayank?"
"He is in his room."
"Okay, you go to his room. I'm going to video call you now. There's a surprise."
"Okay daddy."
Jiya had gone to get something to eat. Jivika was in Vikrant's lap. He put up a video call with Anu quickly.
Both were surprised to see the baby in Vikrant's lap."Daddy, who is this so cute, chubby baby, and what is she doing in your lap?"
"Look at the baby properly, and you will get your answer."
"A few seconds later, oh! Daddy, she looks exactly like you. Who's the baby?"
"I'm in Chandigarh, Mayank, with your Jiya Mom. She's my daughter. The name of this naughty baby is Jeevika. Did you like your younger sister?"
"Oh! We don't have words to describe our feelings right now. We also want to come to Chandigarh to meet Jivika; please book our tickets."
"Not now, but later. Don't tell anyone about this."
"Ok, daddy, is Jiya coming to Mumbai with you or not?"
"No, she's still angry with me. But I'm sure I will convince her soon.
Okay, I'll talk to you later. Jiya is coming."The children were delighted to see her. All he wanted was for his family to be reunited soon.
