Chapter 57
After Jiya went to school, Vikrant slept for some more time. His sleep was disturbed by the sound of Jivika's cry. He took her in his arms and began to calm her. But she was, as usual, looking for her mother. He picked her up and carried her out of the room.
"Good morning, Mrs. Mallika. Jivi is probably crying, remembering her mother."
"Good morning, Vikrant. By the way, my little princess does not cry so much, but nowadays her teeth are coming out. That's why she's crying so much."
Mallika had brought a bottle of milk for Jeevika. As soon as Jivi drank the milk, she became calm and fell asleep in the lap of her grandmother.
"A sandwich is prepared for breakfast. Do you want to eat right now or after a bath?"
"I'll take my breakfast later; don't worry. I am guilty of whatever I did to Jiya. My mistake is not worth apologizing for, but if you can, please forgive me. I have come to take Jiya back home."
"It doesn't matter whether I forgive you or not. It's important that Jiya forgive you. Like every mother, I also want her to live happily with her family, Jeevika to get her father's love. But I don't want to impose my decision on Jiya.
I will support her in whatever decision she makes. She doesn't want to see Abha's face ever again in life, nor does she want to step into that house again. I believe that my daughter has made a big mistake, but it has happened unknowingly. She became a victim of Abha's conspiracy.
If you were given a high dose of those pills mixed in juice, you would have done the same thing that Jiya did. Your biggest mistake is that you trusted Abha but didn't trust your wife.
It's understandable that you were angry with her; at least you should have trusted the evidence, but you ignored it. I just sent you a photo and a video. Look at her and think, what have you done to Jiya, and what does she think of you in return? You think about all these things; till then, I will bathe Jeevika."
Vikrant was shocked to see her picture of that day when he slapped her. Because of his slap, her face was swollen, and there was a cut mark on the lip; it was also swollen. This was a sign of the extent to which a man can fall because of anger.
In the state of anger, all people are equal, whether they are rich or poor, illiterate or educated. Vikrant was feeling so ashamed of his behavior at this time that it could not be described in words. He fell into his own eyes today.
Tears started falling from his eyes when he saw the video. In the video, Jiya was being taken to the labor room, and she was calling his name even in pain. He was cursing himself. Even after being so much older than her, Jiya who loved him so much that despite his inhuman behavior, she kept him alive in her heart, did not stop him from loving his daughter; he mistreated her.
He was murmuring. "No matter how much time it takes to convince you, I will do everything to convince you."
When Jiya came home from school at three o'clock in the afternoon, she saw Vikrant and Jivika sleeping together. It was nice to see both the father and daughter sleeping peacefully. She also slept with them after having lunch.
In the evening, Aman came home to meet everyone. The moment Jeevika saw him, she went into his arms. He was looking at Jivika and then at Vikrant.
"Are you Vikrant?"
"Yes"
"Jivika looks like you."
Hearing this, a big smile came to Vikrant's lips.
"My name is Aman. I and Mallika are childhood friends and will be getting married soon."
"I am happy to hear this. Congratulations to both of you."
"Thank you, Vikrant."
After having tea, Aman and Mallika had gone downstairs with Jivika so that Vikrant and Jiya could get some time to talk. She was checking the school books of the children.
Vikrant said, "I need to talk to you."
"Yes, I'm listening."
"It's important, not funny. Do the school work a little later."
"All right, what do you want to say?"
"Let's go home. I have come here to take you and Jivi to Mumbai."
"I am at home, Vikrant."
"I'm talking about our house, Jiya."
"That house was never my home from the beginning. It was yours and Abha's house. I just happened to come in between the two of you."
"Stop this nonsense. You know that's not true."
"The truth is that you have more respect for your children's nanny than your wife. You trust Nanny more than your wife. Your wife may be wrong, but Nanny can never be wrong. You never thought about me.
You were always concerned about Abha. What wrong did I do to her that she ruined my life? She tried to kill me, responsible for my miscarriage, and when that didn't work, she fed me those sex drive-boosting pills, because of which I reluctantly handed myself to Rahul.
You know, when I woke up after that night, I was disgusted with myself. I would sit in the shower for hours and try to erase the scars of that night from my body. It was a rape that I couldn't stop, even if I wanted to, which happened willingly, but that didn't include my yes.
That woman maligned my image in your eyes and in my eyes forever. Because of that, I had a scar on my character. She spoiled my life. I hate that bitch. I will never see her face in my life, and I will never step into that house again.
A year later, you remembered your wife. Jeevika resembles you, so you are blossoming with happiness upon seeing her. You must have forgotten your words, but I still remember what you said...This child is not mine. It must be Rahul or one of the other men with whom you have slept. You are worse than prostitutes.
What brought you to your characterless wife after a year? I can never forget that slap. It still hurts. You said, "I don't know how much fire you have in your body that you require more than one man to satisfy you. You are a bloody slut."
So listen, Vikrant, the fire in my body has cooled down. I don't need you or anyone else. I'm very happy with my daughter. You can come when you want to meet. I will never stop you to meet her.
You wanted to have a divorce, and I am ready to divorce you. Yes, one more thing: I don't want a single penny from you for divorce. I can take care of my daughter alone."
After hearing all this, Vikrant had no words left to say. He didn't even have the courage to apologize. His mistake was so big that the word sorry in front of her was miniscule.
