Chapter 49

Mallika and Jiya were surviving partly on the rent of their house in Mumbai and partly on the interest on their bank deposits. Compared to Mumbai, life here was much simpler. Their relationship was also getting stronger day by day. Often, she used to sit alone and think that if her mother had not supported her at such a tough phase of her life, then it would have become difficult for her to survive alone.

The husband-wife relationship that we consider for ever is, in reality, the most delicate relationship. Even a small mistake can break a relationship. A woman calls her husband's house her own, but it's just for a name. As long as you meet your husband's standards, the house is yours. One little mistake, and you're out of the door.

Vikrant never liked her mother, and today it is her mother who is supporting her in bad times. These seven marriage vows are all lies. The only truth of life is that no one loves you unconditionally except your parents. All relationships can leave you alone in tough times, but parents stand with you in every good and bad situation.

Nowadays, every relationship runs on the formula of give and take. It's just a parent-child relationship that is based purely on love.

After separating from Vikrant, Jiya's respect for her mother increased even more. The time of her delivery was near; she needed to visit the hospital anytime. During this time, Aman was with them as a great support.

They often visited each other's house to spend some family time. After coming to Chandigarh, Jiya got a new family in the form of Aman and his parents.

Jiya had left Mumbai behind, but Vikrant was still in her heart. It was impossible to forget. How could she forget that his baby was in her womb? If Vikrant wanted, he could have found her. It wasn't difficult for him to find her.
It was very painful to think that he did not think even once about where she would go during pregnancy or how she would manage herself.

At least he must have cared about his child. Well, according to him, he was not his baby, so why would he worry about him?

Jiya looked at herself in the mirror every time and said, "maybe I'm wrong, Vikrant, but at least you should have behaved in the right manner. Blaming me is not going to make you right."

She had suddenly started feeling pain in her stomach at night. Mallika had called Aman for help.

The pain was getting worse. Aman and Mallika immediately took her to the hospital. She was taking Vikrant's name, even in pain. Seeing this, Mallika got emotional. She recorded these moments of Jiya to keep as memories.

While Jiya was in excruciating pain in the labor room, Vikrant was wandering in a different direction.

After a few hours, the nurse came and gave the good news to Mallika and Aman that she had given birth to a beautiful daughter. Both mother and child are in good health.

Hearing this, Mallika had tears in her eyes. She has become a grandmother now.

As soon as the nurse placed the baby in Jiya's lap, a smile came to her lips. All the pain was gone in an instant. It was a very special and sad moment. It was special because her daughter was born today and, sad, because Vikrant was not with her, there was no possibility of ever being together in the future.

In spite of the animosity between them, she wanted to call Vikrant to give him good news that his daughter had been born, but then she stopped. If he cared about her or his child at all, he would find her and come here.

Mallika was holding the baby in her arms. By then, Aman had also brought sweets to be distributed to everyone. Jiya was happy to see that she was not alone at this time. Her family—her mother and Aman—are with her.

The delivery was normal, so she was discharged from the hospital early. Aman and Mallika decorated her room with balloons. Aman's daughter was living with her mother in Canada. They used to meet only once a year and talked mostly on video calls.

Jiya reminded him of his daughter. Emotions have been there for Mallika since childhood, but then, because of some circumstances, they got separated. Friendship was left behind; destiny took them in different directions.

When Abha came to Vikrant's room to give him milk at night, he was listening to songs with a headset. His eyes were closed. Abha used to hesitate earlier and maintained distance while talking to him. Now she started looking for excuses to touch him.

She lightly pressed Vikrant's shoulder.
"Please have some milk before you sleep."

Vikrant was a little surprised when he looked at Abha. Today, for the first time in so many years, he saw Abha in such a revealing night dress.

For a few moments, Vikrant's gaze stopped on her cleavage, but then he controlled his emotions.

After seeing no response from Vikrant, she went to her room.

Abba, lying on the bed, was thinking about him.

"The way you looked at me convinced me that there is a spark waiting to ignite within you too. So what if you managed to control your emotions today? But for how long will you be able to control yourself? If this dress cannot show any miracle, then it does not matter; milk will definitely show the miracle."

Vikrant was walking into his room. He didn't like the way he looked at her. He felt ashamed. He respected her, he  loved his wife Neera and, after her death, only Jiya.

He also wondered why Abha came to his room wearing such a cleavage-showing night dress today. He didn't like her dress. Anyway, after Jiya's infidelity, every woman seemed slutty to him.

A single thought of Jiya was enough to spoil his mood. He went to sleep without drinking milk.

Anu and Mayank tried to find Jiya and Mallika on social media, but to no avail. They didn't know where to find her.
