sometimes we want people to haunt us because we don't really know how to let them go. not completely. not fully. not wholly. we let them go physically because we have to, but we hold on to the memories and the tears because that's the only way for us to convince ourselves that it was ever real at all. and if it wasn't real, then we feel invalidated in our feelings, so we hold on to the ghosts to remind us that, no matter if it was real to them, it was always real to us.
