Episode One, Part 1:
Renascence

15 years later.

Izzy's eyes were closed, but visions of her future were running wild around her head; how the next few minutes were about to change the trajectory of her life, and there was very little she could do to stop it. She breathed out, trying to release the nerves that were lodged in her throat, restricting the air from reaching her lungs fully, but she wasn't good at letting things go. Holding things; holding her breath, on the other hand, was something she had a lot of practice at.

"Any minute now," Harlow whispered to her. "My money's still on you."

Overhearing their conversation, Veer turned around and beamed one of her ever-present smiles their way. "Says you - the boy who's only been trained by the Dreea Taven most of his life."

Harlow responded with a mischievous smile before gesturing their attention Eden's way - who was frozen entirely still, with the exception of her fingers that drummed over her folded arms. "At least I'm not the child of two Sovereigns."

"So what? Greatness is in my blood," Eden joked, though, her voice was staid and monotone. "We all know it's going to be you or Izzy; you two are the oldest, after all."

Izzy clicked her neck, still yet to say something, and her silence was becoming noticeable.

"Hey," Harlow said, his hand now on her back. "We're still going to be Sovereigns no matter which one of us is decided as the Noble. It's just bragging rights for whoever gets it."

Izzy looked over at him, nodding in tune with his words, but before she found her chance to say something back, the doors to the map room were pushed open and a small crowd of familiar faces entered inside.

Elara made her way over and had Izzy enveloped in a hug within seconds, and all of her worries were momentarily burned away.

Peering over her mother's shoulder, Izzy could see Harlow, Veer, and Eden caught up in identical scenarios whilst a murmured chorus of voices filled up the room; Quill and Aeryn - still in astonishment that their gentle daughter turned out to be a fearless fighter - enveloping Veer in their love, and Reign at Eden's side, proud to offer her a hand to hold whilst their parents were preoccupied.

After a few moments, Elara pulled away from Izzy, but didn't let go of her completely, even as Ares took his chance to hug her. Perhaps she was from where Izzy had learned how to hold on.

"I can't believe you're going to be a Sovereign," Ares said.

Izzy let out a slight laugh. "Technically I already am a Sovereign," she said. "This is to announce which one of us is the Noble."

Ares nodded as he made sense of things. "Where's dad?"

They both glanced around the room until their eyes landed on their father - making his way inside with Wynn, Sol, and Dreea.

The four of them moved to the front of the room, not drawing attention their way until they were sure everyone was ready. Mostly, it was because they were struggling not to give the answers away which Izzy knew would have happened if Kodiak glanced at her, or if Sol and Wynn met eyes with Eden.

As her nerves twisted her stomach, Izzy spun back around to face her mother. "You really don't know who they've chosen?"

Elara laughed and tucked Izzy's hair behind her ear. "Kodiak hasn't given me the slightest hint, even though I know he's been dying to."
