Episode Three, Part 1:
Way Down We Go

Izzy and Eden were perched in one of the trees opposite the new clan's setup, though, no way near as high as Veer had managed to climb.

"Yep. Around 150 people," Eden said, pulling down the pair of binoculars and passing them over to Izzy. "How did they keep this many people a secret? And where did they all come from?" She looked to Izzy for an answer, wondering if she had any possibilities to suggest, only to find the binoculars shaking in her hands and her face pale and ghostly looking.

"Izzy?" Eden worried, reaching over to her and holding onto her leg, not wanting risk her suddenly falling out of the tree.

"I... I recognise some of them."

Eden frowned and took possession of the binoculars again, trying to scan across the faces she could see and know who Izzy was talking about. "Who, Myles?"

Izzy shook her head. "Not him. He's not there."

"Then who? Someone from your old clan?"

Izzy was sore at the reminder of her life before Kodiak and Elara, but she brushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the matter at hand. "No; several people who've left Basilisk."

"I didn't recognise anyone?" Eden said.

"You were younger; you probably didn't even know them, but your parents would. I can't put names to faces right now, but one of them was a guard quite close to Aunt River," she said, knowing the mention of Eden's mother would highlight the weight of everything.

"But we haven't noticed a sudden drop in our people, neither did our parents before they passed the baton to us, or anyone else in camp," Eden said. "If our people noticed others leaving, there'd be concern, and we'd be the first ones to feel it."

"There's been a complete change of Sovereigns, and a recent boom of births in camp, and lots of other things going on that if the odd one or two people left, it probably would have gone under the radar, especially if they had tried to distance themselves from other before they left," Izzy said. "But as I said, some of the people I recognise are from when you were younger. They've been gone for years, Eden. Though, most of them aren't from Basilisk. I don't know if that's a good thing or not..."

"Do you think they've returned to join Basilisk again? And maybe they've brought some people with them? They could have started families in that time, and decided to move back."

Izzy shook her head, wishing she was still young enough to have such a naive outlook on the things that now completely daunted her. "That's not how the world works. People don't leave and come back like that. I don't know why they're here, but I know it's not good. Anyway," she let out a heavy breath. "It's dark and we need to head back. Veer and Harlow will start to worry."

Eden nodded and followed Izzy's lead down the tree, glad that she was there to help her keep her balance as she jumped down.

The pair started walking away and once Izzy was sure that they were far enough away to not be heard, she pulled out her radio.

"Harlow, are you there?"

"Hey, Izzy," he answered.

"We're on our way back. Just thought you guys should know."

"That's good. Your dad was asking for you, by the way," he said. "I think he's starting to get suspicious."

Izzy sighed over the radio. "Did you tell him where we were?"

"No," Harlow said. "But if I were you, I would take-" The radio started breaking and his voice distorted completely.

"Harlow?" Izzy asked. "Are you there? Can you hear me?"
