Episode Three, Part 2:
Way Down We Go
The two Sovereigns hurried up to the gates of Basilisk, already concerned by the lights they could see on inside the Quarters.
Izzy glanced down at her watch, alarmed to see that it was 2 AM, and hoped that it was only Harlow or Veer awake.
"Where are you going?" Eden asked, grabbing onto Izzy's hand as she began walking the path up to the Quarters.
"To see Harlow and Veer?"
"You need to go to the medic tent."
"Eden-"
"I'm not arguing on this," the younger girl said, pulling Izzy to the entrance of the tent before eventually managing to get her inside.
Aeryn sat up at the desk in the centre looking tired, but as though she had been unable to get any sleep even if she wanted to.
"Where have you two been?" She asked, eager for an answer until she noticed the fresh wound on the Noble Sovereign. "You got hurt?"
"It's nothing," Izzy began to say, not wanting to cause a fuss, but Aeryn had already forced her to sit on the nearest bed and was carefully pulling back the layers of the makeshift bandage Eden had made, to inspect the damage.
"Izzy, this is serious," she said. "And if you didn't tell me, it would have got infected, and it could have killed you."
"She's okay, though. Right?" Eden asked.
Aeryn sighed, apologetic for having scared them. "She'll be fine. Can you go get Kodiak and Elara?"
Eden looked to Izzy, both girls knowing that they didn't want the former Sovereigns to find out about what had happened.
"It's just a cut; I don't need my parents for this," Izzy said. "I'm grown."
"Sovereign or not, they've been worried sick about you, and I promised to tell them if I heard anything. If it was my child that was hurt, I'd want to be there for them. Now, Eden, please go find them."
Eden, unable to refuse, hurried out of the medic tent and headed for the Quarters, despite how badly she wanted to keep things between her, Izzy, and Aeryn.
"Are you going to tell your parents how you got this?"
"Would it make a difference?"
"Izzy, they're-"
"I know. I know they worry about me, and I love them beyond words for that, but this is my time to prove to them that I'm brave."
"They already know you are. You don't need to prove that to anyone. And you don't need to bare the pain when someone can help."
Izzy dropped her head, battling the idea of opening up to Aeryn when she heard a commotion of footsteps behind her, and her parents were among the first of many faces to come rushing in.
"Mom, Dad, I'm fine."
As if she hadn't said anything, Kodiak and Elara hurried towards her, trying to contain the fear they could feel when they saw that she was hurt. Then, to make things worse, Harlow and Veer appeared right behind them, equal looks of misery on their faces.
"Who did this to you?" Kodiak asked, already beginning to tend to his daughter's injury and make sure for himself that she was fine.
Izzy hesitated before answering. "Eden and I were climbing some trees and I... I cut it on one of the branches as I jumped down."
