It was a new day, and in the monastery, Nya walked around her room getting ready for her Con Day.
The black haired girl tried on multiple outfits before finally settling for a skin-tight, white tank top, baggy, black jeans, and a pair of black boots. Nya locked her silver chain around her neck before staring at herself in the mirror. As she wondered whether to wear her hair up or down, her thoughts slowly crept back to more personal things.
She wondered about Lloyd.
She wondered about Kai.
She wondered if she could keep up a positive visage while her home life was kind of going to shit. No one knew. No one outside of the ninja knew what was going on in that house. It made Nya feel a certain type of way, and she wasn't sure if she liked it.
The girl quickly pulled the stretchy hair tie off her head and let her pitch black hair fall to her shoulders. She looked at herself in the mirror a little longer before smiling awkwardly at her reflection. Maybe if she smiled for long enough, it would become real.
Nya turned on her heels before walking out of her room and down the hall to go find Wu. The black haired girl looked down at her shirt to check for stains before slamming into Jay, who had come from the kitchen.
"Oh-! Sorry...!" Nya said awkwardly
"No, you're okay..." Jay chuckled
The two went silent. The air was thick with awkward tension and both the ninja didn't know how to handle it.
"You...you look good..." Jay finally spoke up, gesturing to Nya's outfit
"Yeah. Thank you..." Nya smiled softly
The two stared at each other for a bit more before Nya finally broke to silence.
"Well, I gotta go so..."
"Oh! Yeah, go right ahead." Jay said as he stepped out of the way
Nya gave him another small smile before walking off to Wu's room. The ginger sighed to himself before heading back to the boys' room
Sometimes, he missed Nya. Not as his friend, she would always be his friend, but as his lover. Jay climbed back up to his bunk above Zane's bed as he continued to think to himself. What hurt most is that he never even knew why it ended. In moments where he thought there was no proper explanation, he remembered HeartBreaker's vision. He would quickly sweep the theory out of his head because it came with jealousy and sadness, but also confusion about what he had to do to escape to vision.
Kissing Cole. Or at least the hallucination of him.
Why did he do that?
The ginger moved his head slightly to look over his bunk at Cole, who slept under Kai's bunk. His mind wandered back to the past, when him and Cole were really inseparable. He remembered how they were as toddlers, how they were as kids, softly laughing as he remembered that's when Cole started locking his hair, he thought it was cool because one of his uncles had locs. He remembered what it was like to be separated from Cole, how it felt to lose a friend, and he even remembered how it felt to learn that Cole was an elemental master.
These two had so much history, and yet, Jay felt like it was never enough. There was always something missing.
Jay ripped himself out of that uncomfortable headspace before taking out his phone to distract himself
There could never be anything pleasurable about kissing another man.
After Nya woke Wu up, she went to the kitchen to get some breakfast while her sensei got ready. When they were both ready to go, they said their byes and headed off to the warehouse.
