"Ugh, where is this  guy?" Laura asked loudly through the harsh rain

"What?" CJ asked

"I said: Where is this guy?" Laura repeated

"Hold on..." CJ spoke before throwing her hand up and parting the clouds in the sky, letting the rain fall everywhere but on them

All the ninja sighed in content, no longer feeling the bullet-like rain drops pelt their bodies. Perks of having a weather elemental at your side

"Hah, if you could do that the whole time, why didn't you?" Nick grumbled

"I forgot, sorry!" CJ smiled nervously with a small peace sign causing Nick to roll his eyes with a groan

"Anyway, what were you asking, Laura?" Kane quizzed as he combed a hand through his wet, blonde hair

"Just where this guy is at." Laura replied

"Pixal told us there was a villain lurking around the city but everyone we've seen this far has just been an ordinary civilian." The girl finished

"Yeah, but everyone's been acting kinda strange. Don't you think?" Nick asked

"...Yeah. But I don't know if that connects to anything..." Laura spoke cautiously

"Do you think it might be the guy Roberto told us about? The soothsayer?" CJ asked lowly

"I don't know...I mean, yeah it's been a few days since then but Roberto's...a little looney. Are we sure we trust him?" Said Kane

"It's true he's a little weird, but depending on the events of today, Roberto could become a key source of information for us. Like a rat or something. So stay on high alert, ninja." The green ninja spoke with authority

The other ninja followed behind Laura quietly, surveying the empty city. Neon signs glowed brightly and reflected light in watery puddles on the cement ground. But the city was empty. Usually there would be some people out and about, enjoying the nightlife the city had to offer, but everything was empty and lacking of life. The few people the ninja occasionally did but into slurred their speech and held eye contact in a sort of brainless, soulless way. Like the lights were on but nobody was home. Kane dragged on beside his team, silently searching for the threat while biting down on himself internally. He had to keep his cool. He couldn't lose his head like he did with Roberto and start crying like a little kid, because if Roberto really was right, one wrong move could cost the ninja a lot, and he wasn't ready to be the downfall of his team again. But in that moment, vibrant purple lightning tore through the sky and illuminated the silhouette of the one they had been after this whole time. The image struck fear in Kane's heart and awe drenched his face completely, as if he had just watched Satan fall from Heaven with his own two eyes.

"There!" Kane shouted as he pointed up to the top of a tall building. Before the other's could locate the villain, Kane blasted off into the sky

"Kane!" Laura called out, but the blonde was already gone

Kane landed on the roof of the building, slipping a bit as he came down due to the rain. The boy  surveyed the area looking for the figure he saw, but there seemed to be no one but him around

"...I know you're here...I saw you..." Kane spoke carefully as he walked around looking for the cloaked figure

The blonde heard a slight rustling behind him and immediately turned to look behind him. Seeing nothing, he turned back around, his breath instantly caught in his throat as his eyes locked with pitch black ones.

Black eyes. Blue irises.

The Soothsayer.

Kane stood perfectly still, unable to move. Shit. What should he do? He came up here with no plan at all.
