POV: Enid

The afternoon came too soon for my liking.

Honestly, I didn’t know if I was more nervous or excited… maybe both. My stomach had been in knots all morning.

I stepped out of the bathroom into Fatima’s bedroom, still drying my hands on my shorts. Fatima was at her vanity, doing her makeup, and she turned the second she heard me come in.

"Come sit," she said immediately, eyes lighting up. "Lemme show you the outfit I picked out for you."

I swear, she looked more excited than me.

She practically bounced to her closet and pulled out a cute, beach-date outfit—a white, fitted crop top with tiny lace trimming, and those pastel blue, high-waisted shorts that everybody on TikTok’s been wearing. She held up a soft, lightweight white shirt too, the kind you wear open, letting it hang off your shoulders for that effortless-but-you-know-you-still-look-fine look.

My chest warmed.
She really thought this through.

"Go change so I can do your hair and makeup," Fatima ordered, pushing the clothes into my hands.

I changed quickly in her bathroom. When I came out, Fatima was already slipping into her own outfit—a simple grey body-hugging tee, black denim skirt, and her silver chain.
Cute, but definitely not the usual 'Tima level' of extra she pulls off effortlessly.

She was nervous.
I could see it.

"Look at us," she said, tapping my shoulder as she grabbed her makeup brush. "Getting ready to see our wives."

That made me choke on my own laugh. She laughed too, bumping her hip against mine as she started on my makeup.

She kept it soft—glowy skin, a little blush, glossy lips, nothing too heavy. Then she curled a few strands of my hair, leaving it loose and soft around my shoulders.

"All done," she said proudly, turning me toward the mirror.

I actually looked… cute.
And a little more confident than I felt.

"Let’s get going before we get late—" she started, but my phone buzzed right in that moment.

Fatima froze.
Then she grinned like the devil.

"Golden girllll," she teased.

My heart did a full somersault.

It was Olivia.

Grayson😒
I’m outside. Take your time.

"I guess we aren’t going together," Fatima said, leaning over my shoulder just to read the message clearer.

"Text me Mia’s address," she added as we walked out of the room and headed downstairs.

"Mariam!" Fatima called.
The maid came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel.

"We’re going out. Text one of us when Mrs. Huggins drops Mida off."

"Yes, ma," Mariam nodded.

We stepped out of the house… and my eyes instantly landed on her.

Olivia.

She was leaning against her white Jeep, like she belonged in some slow-motion music video. She wore a loose black tank top tucked into ripped denim shorts, her hair tied up in a messy ponytail, a couple strands falling to her face.

Her sunglasses were pushed up on her head, catching the sun.
Her arms crossed—of course—making her biceps look stupidly good for no reason.

My breath got stuck somewhere between my chest and throat.
