The rest of the afternoon goes by quickly with a couple of more embarrassing moments between  Lo'ak and Tsireya, all of them cause by Lo'ak.

We don't stay out too long, quickly getting tired and swimming back to shore. That's when we see Atoning and Rotxo waiting for us.

When I notice then looking at Lo'ak I'm almost certain another fight is about to break out but instead they both greet each other.

Did I miss something?

I look at Lo'ak, searching for an answer but he just mouths later .

We all decide to sit outside while the sun is still out. That's when I see my chance to talk to Lo'ak.

"Are you guys friends or what?" I question him.

"Nah we're just cool." he shrugs.

"Just cool? What does that mean? You guys are cool enough to do certain things and not others-"

"Dude I don't know! We've just been normal ever since-"

"Ever since he nearly killed you?" I finish for him.

"Don't say it so loud." He glares at me.

"Wait, " I stare at him, putting 2 and 2 together "you didn't tell the chief it was him?" I stare at him incredulous.

"Of cours not, I'm not a snitch." He shrugs and walks back towards the group.

I stand there dumbfounded. I didn't know he was that stupid

After a few seconds I hesitantly catch up to the group and we all sit down in a circle.

We talked about different things, taking turns in telling stories and recalling funny memories and adventures. We even get around to telling them about our incident with the sky people. I can tell they're really interested, they've never had someone from their clan experience this sort of attack so hearing it must be pretty interesting. Especially for future warriors like Rotxo and Atoning, Tsireya is more worried over Lo'ak than interested.

It's quite surprising to see us all getting along.

But I don't mind. Especially when I get to see Kiri finally smiling.

Of course this doesn't last long. At some point the subject shifts to Lo'aks encounter with some kind of outcast Tulkun; Payakan.

"Lo'ak you are lucky to be alive" I hear Tsireyas soft voice next to me.

"I'm telling you guys, he's not a killer; he's my friend." Lo'ak tries to convince her yet his voice has a certain edge to it. I can feel the tension rising but before I can say anything, Neteyam beats me to it.

"My baby brother" he puts his hands on Lo'aks shoulder to shake him slightly "the might warrior who faced the killer Tulkun and lived to tell the story."

Lo'ak pushes him off in annoyance and stands up "You guys aren't listening." and with that walks away.

I just sigh knowing nothing can be done about Lo'aks short temper.

"Lo'ak I'm listening" Tuk tries to call him back but he keeps going.

I roll my eyes at his childish behavior and my eyes meet Neteyams, his expression mirroring mine.

After that, we don't talk about Payakan anymore. The conversation just stays on the topic of seashells and any eventual gossip, including me and Neteyam teasing Tsireya about Lo'ak, earning a huff of annoyance from Aonung. This doesn't go by unnoticed and we quickly decide to turn our attention on him, Tsireya feeding us all sorts of gossip, even embarrassing childhood memories.
