After getting Tanjiro started on his training, Urokodaki asked you to show him everything you know. The older man was impressed as he watched you do your demonstration. As he watched, he couldn't help but wonder who taught you everything you know. If you had mastered their breathing style, you'd likely have already been on your way to becoming a hashira.

For two years you and Tanjiro train side by side. Urokodaki teaches the boy the art of water breathing while you work on creating your own breathing style. Both of you improve greatly throughout the two years. Even your 'sight' gets more accurate from sensing the traps along the mountain.

After those two long hard years, you and Tanjiro both manage to split your boulders with your blades. You both know neither of you could've possibly done it without the help of Sabito and Makomo, two slayers who took it upon themselves to train you to the point of being able to split the rocks.

Now, the two of you kneel before Urokodaki, the man amazed yet saddened that the two of you managed to succeed. After sending so many young slayers to their deaths, he had silently hoped the two of you would fail at slicing the rocks in half so he could avoid sending yet another pair to their doom.

"I have gifts for the two of you before you go." Urokodaki stands, moving to the cupboard where he pulls out two haori's and handmade warding masks. Setting them down, he first grabs the mask he made for Tanjiro- a simplistic mask with a simple design resting over where his scar is. As he gives Tanjiro the mask he describes what it symbolizes and how he has given one to all of his students before.

After Tanjiro accepts the mask Urokodaki turns to you, telling you to hold out your hands as he gently places the mask in your hands. You carefully brush your fingers over the mask, feeling each curve and bump. You even smile a little upon feeling the two little ears at the top of the mask.

Tanjiro, curious to see what yours looks like, leans closer until he's practically resting against your shoulder. His mouth drops open slightly in awe as he looks over your mask that contains a lot more detail than his own.

The white mask is covered in red specks, and a large red splotch that covers across where the eyes would otherwise be. The ears are also different as the are completely red with the right ear having a white inside and the left having black. The only thing your mask has that his does as well is the two dots resting on the edges of the mouth.

Once the two of you put on the gifts consisting of matching haori's and your personalized masks- that Tanjiro wears on the side of his head while you wear yours properly- the two of you head off to final selection. You both call out your farewell's before rushing off, excited to finally start the next part of your journey.

Urokodaki watches the two of you, shocked at the fact that Tanjiro had said the names of two deceased students. It takes him a moment to shake off the shock before going back inside where he sits next to Nezuko. Looking at the sleeping girl he feels a bit of hope that you and Tanjiro will return safely from final selection. He hopes that Nezuko will be enough to drive you two to fight your hardest and return to them.

He's especially worried about you. You may have had training before meeting him but you only just recently succeeded in making your own breathing technique and it's far from being perfected. There's also the fact that you're blind and will be stuck in unknown territory filled with ravenous demons that will kill without hesitation.

It does bring him some peace of mind knowing that you will have Tanjiro by your side the entire time. He knows that you can 'see' your surroundings using your feet but that does little to comfort him. There are many different factors that could render that ability completely useless. That's why he's glad Tanjiro will be with you. The two of you can fight together and keep each other safe. Should you lose your 'sight', Tanjiro will be there to help you.

You, on the other hand, surprisingly don't share those same concerns. You have confidence in your abilities, and despite being incomplete you know your technique is good enough to kill most lower rank demons. You were taught by two of the best slayers you know- which isn't saying a lot considering you only know three but still. If you don't have confidence in yourself, then you don't have confidence in them and their teachings which is unacceptable.

You will do your best at final selection and return to Urokodaki and Nezuko. Not only to prove that you're capable, but because they're counting on you to return. And you'll survive just to show Yoriichi that teaching you all those years wasn't a waste of time despite you never learning his technique.
