Twenty-Seven

Inosuke growls in anger and annoyance as he makes his ways through the halls of the building once again. You listen to him mutter to himself about how he's been there for three days already and you're admittedly impressed that he's survived so long or that he hasn't gone completely insane with how much the building changes at random. You were ready to completely give up within ten minutes of being inside but here he is still going strong.

Just as Inosuke is about to turn a corner a hand juts out forcing him to flip out of the way. You weren't really expecting to suddenly flip upside down like that which resulted in you once again tightening your grip on the boar boy. He doesn't seem to mind as he focuses entirely on the demon that appeared out of nowhere.

"You dodged that. You seem quite spry, human." The demon speaks as it crushes a part of the wall in its grip. "Your healthy flesh will be well worth gouging out to eat!"

For the first time since meeting him you hear Inosuke murmur the words of his breathing style. "Self taught style, beast breathing! It's gonna feel so good to rip such a huge target to shreds!"

The demon laughs as he watches Inosuke run towards him. "You've got a lot of guys to charge me head on like that!" His laughter is cut off and instead replaced with wails of pain as Inosuke cuts his arms off in one swing.

This time it's Inosuke's turn to laugh. "Revel in your own death, and serve as my catalyst! Fang three, devour!" Inosuke uses the demons gut as a launch pad right after beheading him. "Coming through! Coming through!"

Shortly after defeating the demon, Inosuke finds the exit which lets you know that the demon with control over the house was finally killed. As soon as you're outside again you relax, relieved to no longer be inside the torturous building. You unfortunately don't get to relax for long as you hear Zenitsu's screams. "There it is again, that terrifying boar monster! And it still has (Y/N)!"

Inosuke laughs as he looks around. "Picking up a demonic presence here." Oh no. You know exactly who he's sensing.

"Hey, wait." Zenitsu stops screaming, sounding a lot calmer yet still scared. "I know where I heard that voice before. He's the sixth survivor. During Final Selection, he was the first to rush up the mountain and the first to come back down. What a force of nature!" You're a bit confused about what Zenitsu's talking about as you have zero memory of ever encountering the boar boy at Final Selection.

"I've found you, demon!" As Inosuke runs towards Nezuko's box you try your best to stop him, pulling back against him. It doesn't seem to do much, though, as he just keeps charging forward until Zenitsu jumps in front of him blocking him from the box. "What the hell? Who are you? Get outta my way!"

"My name is Zenitsu Agatsuma! I'm a Demon Slayer, the same as you!"

"Oh? Are you, now? Then, you should already know! We gotta get rid of that thing at all costs! Now get the hell out of my way!"

"I refuse!" Zenitsu's answer admittedly shocks you. After spending pretty much the entirety of Final Selection with him you know how well his hearing is. You know that he knows there's a demon within the box and yet he's still protecting it. "This belongs to Tanjiro-"

"Don't you argue with me! I'll deal with him and his box if that's the case. I won't say it again. Move!" Inosuke moves his blade until it's right next to Zenitsu's neck. "Do you wanna die?"

Despite being terrified, Zenitsu stays still. "This box, I won't let you touch it! I don't know what's inside, but I know that it's precious to Tanjiro!"

"Are you serious? Use your damn head! There's a demon in that box! Don't you get that!"

"Of course I do!" Zenitsu yells. "I've known that from the very start! I'll do it. I'll ask Tanjiro about the demon myself. Until that happens, just leave it alone!"

You barely have time to react before Inosuke slams his foot into Zenitsu repeatedly. "Stop!" You pull against Inosuke in attempts to throw him off balance or at least distract him from harming the other boy. In a fit of annoyance and anger he throws you off of his back, making you land harshly against the ground. Thankfully Zenitsu gets up and tackles him before he's able to harm Nezuko.

Inosuke continues to beat on Zenitsu, tossing him around like he was nothing more than a piece of trash. Zenitsu manages to toss Inosuke away before running to the box to wrap himself around it. Inosuke curses him as he repeatedly stomps on him and you force yourself to get up in order to help Zenitsu. You run towards Inosuke, leaping onto his back as you try to pull him away. You keep your grip on him tight even as he reaches back to hit you and pull your hair.

Tanjiro exits the house with the two siblings only to find himself stumbling upon a shocking and infuriating sight. He watches as the boar from earlier slams his foot against Zenitsu who is bloody and bruised. His eyes trail up where he finds you on the back of the boar boy much like earlier, yet this time you're also covered in blood and bruises, your hair being yanked in a tight grasp.

"Tanjiro..." Zenitsu looks at the boy, having been the first to notice his appearance. "The box, I protected it. You told me... this was more important to you... than your own life. That's why I did it."

"You idiot!" Inosuke interrupts as he kicks Zenitsu some more. "After all that bluster, you don't even bother to draw your sword! If you're a fellow Demon Slayer, then let's see you fight!"

"Stop it! Stop hurting him!" You yell, still pulling against the boar despite the pain radiating through your body. Just as Zenitsu falls over with the box still in his arms Inosuke reaches back and clutches onto your haori before throwing you over his shoulder, slamming you on the ground right next to Zenitsu. He continues to deliver kick after kick to both of you as you roll over to wrap your arms around Zenitsu and Nezuko.

"Fine then." Inosuke flips his sword to where the blade is facing down. "If all you're gonna do is keep me from doing my job, then you leave me no choice, but to take you out along with that box!"

You brace yourself for the inevitable pain of being stabbed, trying your best to cover Zenitsu and Nezuko up as much as possible. Thankfully, Tanjiro intervenes just in time. "Stop it!" You've never heard him yell with such anger before. "I said stop!"

You can't help but to relax, knowing that Tanjiro will take care of everything. You just wish you could see everything that's happening rather than only being able to hear as you lay against the ground, too in pain and tired to stand.
