Tanjiro grew concerned when your scent suddenly saddened greatly. Before there was just a tinge of sadness hidden beneath the scent of insecurity and nervousness. Now the sadness completely overwhelms the other scents and he's unsure as to why it suddenly happened.

He doesn't get a chance to question it or anything as his home comes into view, his younger siblings nowhere in sight as they likely rushed inside to tell their mother about you. As he approaches the house, he can only hope that your sadness goes away.

"Welcome home." His mother greets as soon as he walks through the door. He greets her in return as he carefully lowers you to the ground, allowing you to stand on your own. You're instantly met with the sense of multiple people, surprising you with how big his family is.

"Ah, this is (L/N) (Y/N)." He motions towards you making you awkwardly wave in response. "I was hoping we could let her stay with us for a bit."

"Of course!" His mother kindly agrees, taking notice of your disheveled form and bare feet. "Nezuko, dear, can you finish up dinner while I help our guest?"

The older woman walks up to you, gently taking your hand into her own as she leads you out of the room. "Thank you for taking me in, Kamado-San."

She laughs softly. "Please just call me Kie. There's no need for formalities." The two of you enter a different room where she finally releases your hand. "I hope you don't mind, but is it alright if I help you bathe? You must be tired from your travels."

You agree despite feeling awkward about the situation. You haven't been bathed by another person since you were a child and that was your own mother. Though, it helps that Kie is also a mother so she does this kind of thing often. It shouldn't be strange for her because of that.

She helps you undress before pausing. "Is it alright if I remove your bandages? They're quite filthy and I'm afraid they'll get in the way."

Your hand shakily reaches up to brush over the cloth that covers your scarred eyes. It's been six years since you've received them and the only person to have ever seen them was Yoriichi. But, you feel as if Kie is a trustworthy woman who won't judge you or be disgusted by you. So, with a shaky breath, you carefully begin to undo the bandages.

Kie remains silent as she watches them unravel to reveal a large amount of scars covering your eyes. It breaks her heart when she takes note of how many there are and how large some of them are. It's quite obvious you went through something extremely traumatic. Nothing natural can cause scars like that.

She refrains from commenting on them as she instead focuses on getting you cleaned up. With a gentle hand she guides you to sit on a stool before excusing herself to go grab some heated water. When she returns, she carefully begins to pour water over you, soaking your matted dirty hair.

"May I ask how old you are?" She questions as she begins to scrub a cloth over your arms, wiping away the built up dirt.

"Fifteen."

"You're close to my Tanjiro's age then. He's currently fourteen." She dips the cloth in the water before moving on to your legs. "He's a very hardworking and sweet boy. I'm sure the two of you will get along nicely."

You simply nod, not caring to respond. Everyone keeps mentioning you staying here for a bit but you don't want to be a burden on them. It's bad enough Tanjiro went through the trouble of carrying you up the mountain to his home and now his mother is helping you bathe. You already feel as if you've bothered them more than necessary.

The two of you sit in silence after that as she moves on to scrubbing your hair. She rinses and repeats a few times until the water runs clear before stopping to help you dry off. Once you're all dried off she gives you one of her yukatas to wear so she can wash your clothes next. The one thing you don't let her touch is your haori.

You keep your head lowered as you enter the room the others are in. When Kie took your dirtied bandages from you, she didn't give you anything else to cover your eyes with so your scars are out for everyone to see. You were fine when it was just her seeing them, but now Tanjiro and his siblings will see as well. It's a bit overwhelming having so many people see them at once.

"(L/N)-San!" Tanjiro's voice happily calls out the second you enter the room. He tries his best to sound normal despite his concern over your scent that's teeming with insecurity. The second you raise your head he understands why you must feel the way you do.

Two foggy (E/C) eyes stare in his general direction, the left pupil much lighter than the right one. Both eyes are surrounded by scars of varying sizes, more being around the left eye. The sight makes his breath hitch in his throat and he knows from the twitch in your eyebrow that you heard it.

"I hope you like katemeshi with daikon." The girl from earlier breaks the sudden tension as she sets bowls on the table. You nod in reply as you move to kneel next to Tanjiro since you feel more comfortable around him than the others despite his reaction to seeing your eyes.

The siblings begin to chatter loudly as everyone digs in after giving their thanks. You sit there for a few moments before slowly beginning to eat as well. Despite being a simple dish, it tastes amazing and it takes everything in you to keep from yelling out 'umai'. Instead, you simply enjoy the meal with a small smile on your face, unaware of the eyes watching you with a soft gaze.
