"Buy your tickets! Buy them now!" the cheerleaders were promoting the purchase. "There's only a few days till the carnival," a school carnival that was.
"Wow, another fundraiser," Harry stared at the cheerleaders from a distance.
"Buy your tickets now for less!" They were so cheerful, even this early in the morning. How could they do cartwheels at 8am? I could barely drag my feet.
"Want to buy them now?" Harry asked Angie and I.
I shrugged, "We can just buy them at the carnival." It was no big deal. It's not like they were going to run out. "Guys, I need to tell you guys something," I held their attention.
"Is it about Ms. LoVecchio? Because if it is, then I want to hear all about it," Harry crossed his fingers. What a goof.
"It's exactly about her," I bit my bottom lip. About last night, finding out that I went on a date with her sister.
At first I didn't remember Emery but after taking a better look, it all came back. Indeed, Emery and I went out but only one night. I mean, her and I hit it off but the age difference was a turn off.How ironic.
I believe she was twenty-one last year, and I was seventeen. Yeah... that was not going to work. I was so immature at seventeen... Yes, I'm aware that was barely last year but I've come a long way since then.
"Did anything bad happen?" Angie assumed.
I thought about it. That was considered terrible, right? Unsure, I nodded.
"Last night when I was having dinner with my mom-"
Angie interrupted, "I still can't believe that she's here and actually kicked out the witches," she wanted to laugh at the thought of it.
"Uh huh, it happened," my lips pressed together. "Stop interrupting, let me tell you guys what happened," I requested.
"Don't you worry, I'll beat her up if she speaks again," Harry assured, gaining a mugging look from Angie.
"Thank you," he deserved a smile. "Okay, so at the restaurant, we saw Mia and her sister," I started off. "At one point, I told my mom the truth about sixth grade," their eyes widened. Before they could interrupt, I continued. "Mom made me apologize, so I." Angie already wanted to laugh. "Turns out that I dated her sister last year."
"Woah?" they were in shock.
"What's her name?" Harry quickly asked.
"Emery," I replied.
His eyes widened more, "Ooooh, the one I hooked you up with?"
First of all, his older cousin did that, not him. "Sure," I shrugged, not wanting to argue about it. He loved taking credit for everything.
"Wow, how awkward was that," Angie pointed out.
"Very," I got goosebumps just by the thought of it. "Dude, Emery remembered and even reminded me in front of Mia," I hid my face in my hands.
"That's Ms. LoVecchio, right?" Harry's eyes squinted.
"Yeah, that's her first name," I clarified, now sliding my hands away from my face.
"Damn, what happened next? How did Ms. LoVecchio react to that?" Angie was hugely curious and intrigued.
"It upset her, I think," I replied. Last night I couldn't stop thinking about it. Finding out seemed to scare her.
Since my mom and her sister were there, we couldn't discuss it. Honestly, I was nervous going into second period. Before we could continue talking about it, a whole bunch of guys came running. They danced and shouted. Music blasted loudly. Waking up the students.
"Buy your tickets!" they did flips in the air. The cheerleaders danced different choreographies. "They're here! They're cheap! And they could be yours now!" The muscular guys were doing a much better job at promoting the fundraiser.
