The Second Padawan

Chapter Forty-Three

The Republic was in a dire situation. Poggle The Lesser, the leader of the Geonosians was creating thousands of new, and unheard of droid weapons for the Separatist. Master had told us a story about him, Padmé, and Obi-Wan on Geonosis, right when the war started, back when he was a Padawan.

The droid factory was Ray shielded, and with the amount of droids and Geonosians crawling on the surface, it made it almost impenetrable. Not to mention we were outnumbered on every single front.

The Chancellor has ordered a Massive full Planetary assault to retake Geonosis from the Separatists and destroy the factory.

Me, Master and Ahsoka has just finished fighting the separatists in space , luckily there, we had full control. We walked into the bridge to debrief with Obi-Wan and Ki Adi Mundi.

"You're late." Master Kenobi scolded Master.

"Sorry we were routing the seppies near Dorin." Master said.

"I had 48 kills." I tried to brag but Ahsoka cut me off.

"My squadron alone had 55 kills." She smirked, rubbing it in.

"That's pretty good, if you were sleeping half the time. Mine had 76." Master shrugged.

"Show off." Me and Ahsoka said at the same time.

"My squadron had two less men, so I'd say I'd place higher than you both."

"That's mathematically not even possible." Ahsoka giggled.

"Well I'm glad you three are enjoying yourselves." Master Kenobi interjected.

"Hey, it's just a little friendly competition, Master." Anakin said. "Nothing to worry about."

"What I worry about is that this war seems to be drawing out," he ruffled his beard, "With no end in sight."

"Which is why it is crucial that our invasion of Geonosis meets with success." Master Mundi added.

"Agreed." Master said. "Liyah contact the outer-rim command."

"Master they're already waiting for us." I pointed to Ahsoka who had already began contacting them shortly after we entered the bridge.

Master Windu, Yoda, and The Chancellor met us on the holotable. "Our ships are in position," Obi-Wan told them, "And we are ready to begin our campaign against the Geonosians."

"And what about Poggle? Any report on his location?" Master Windu glitched a little bit.

"It seems he's hold up at the primary droid factory here." Obi-Wan pulled up a scan of the droid factory, it had included the massive Ray-shield surrounding it. "The factory's protected by a shield generator." He zoomed in and pointed to a highlighted area.

"Anakin, Ki-Adi Mundi, and I shall attempt a three pronged attack, through their defense lines and a staging area just short of the shield. Once we have landed we shall knock out the shield generator, that is our primary target."

"Isn't it risky committing three generals to one area of the attack?" The chancellor asked, which brought up a valid point. "If something went wrong, we could be dealt a serious blow."

"To assure rise again, Geonosis does not, capture Poggle, we must." Yoda told him.

"Of course." The chancellor agreed with Yoda. "As always, I shall leave the strategy to you, Master Jedi."

"Our thanks, Chancellor." Obi-Wan said semi-sarcastically.

"May the force, be with you." Mace Windu bid us goodbye and hung up.

Commander Cody, Rex, and another Clone stepped on, almost on queue . "Good," Master Kenobi acknowledged their entrance, "Cody, these are the coordinates for the rendezvous." He zoomed in on the display holotable and marked the area.

"Yes sir." Commander Cody said. "When we hit the ground we'll make a perimeter there." He pointed to a highlighted green square on the table. "Getting passed their defenses here will be the trick." He pointed to where the line of Geonosians and droids held up. "General Mundi will come across the defensive lines from the North." Small hologrammed ship models came on the screen. "We will make our assault from the middle. General Skywalker will make is attack from the South, then we will meet at the rendezvous point at 0700 exactly."

"It we meet with strong resistance, and are forced down away from the landing zone, hold out until we join our forces before attacking the shield generator." Master Mundi said.

"Their front lines are heavily fortified." Ahsoka pointed. "And look at this wall."

"Agreed." I commented. "The wall with all the gunning places will prove difficult to get by, especially since they'd have the high ground." I pointed to a large wall in between two cliffs.

"Don't worry," Master said. "We're not going anywhere near that."

"Come now, what happened to all the enthusiasm I saw earlier?" Obi-Wan said jokingly.

"Don't worry about us." Master patted his shoulder. "You just make sure you get to that landing zone in one piece."

"Yes." Obi-Wan rolled his eyes. "I shall be waiting for you when you finally arrive."

"Gentlemen, if you're quite finished." I hadn't even noticed Master Luminara Unduli was on a holocall with us. "We have a battle to begin."

Obi-Wan nodded. "Quite right." He walked toward Commander Cody, telling him to prepare our gunships.

I boarded the Gunship with Rex. Obi-Wan and his squadrons had already engaged, trying to meet their landing point.

"You two take your time." I said as Master and Ahsoka entered the gunship.

"Are we all ready?" Master asked me.

I nodded and the pilot took us out the hangar. "Master Kenobi has already embarked." We immediately started getting shot at by the Geonosians.

"Well, he's got a head start. We'll have to catch up."

"Master must you be so optimistic about this whole ordeal?" I asked him.

"It's better than being so serious." He said.

Everyone inside the ship bumped into eachother as we received heavy fire. "This is not going to be a piece of cake." Ahsoka rolled her eyes. Master had said it was going to be a quick in and out mission.

I had an extremely bad feeling about all of this. With one hit to our engine the ship was going down. "Brace for impact!" The pilot yelled. Within moments we collided with the sand ridden ground of Geonosis.

"We're down! Repeat were down! Location five!" I could hear Rex yell into his comlink, probably notifying Master Mundi or Kenobi.
