As a child, you would wait and watch from far away
But you always knew that you'd be the one
That work while they all play
In youth, you'd lay awake at night and scheme
Of all the things that you would change
But it was just a dream
Here we are, don...
Raina soared high in the sky, her eyes snapping around, taking in the small, burning wood and the scent of blood that filled the air. She had promised Daemon that she would not intervene in the battles unless absolutely necessary, and it seemed to her that the time had come.
Glancing over, Raina saw Daeron and Aemond. Both had entered the battle this time, but Raina's focus was solely on Daeron. In the last battle he had won against her, but in this one, he would meet his end.
Taking a short turn to circle around him, Raina commanded Drakonis to breathe fire. Daeron turned quickly, but Raina knew she had hit him with at least some of the fire because she heard him yelp slightly.
Raina guided Drakonis through the sky as Daeron's dragon unleashed its own fire. However, Raina skillfully maneuvered away, closely tracking his movements as he directed his dragon to the side, swiftly following suit and sweeping to the other side.
As Raina pulled on Drakonis, one of the leather straps of the saddle came loose, dangling and flapping through the air. She maneuvered closer to Daeron, nearing the point where their dragons were almost touching. With a swift movement, she leaped.
Landing on the dragon's back, Raina's hands were empty as she reached to grab Daeron, who turned to try and seize her. However, Raina was faster and managed to grab his hand, causing him to sharply pull the dragon to the side.
Both Raina and Daeron's bodies lurched to the side, but she maintained a tight grip on the saddle. She immediately began striking him with her free hand at his face, while his hand held onto the saddle, she targeted anywhere she could hit.
Daeron attempted to pull himself up, but Raina was relentless. Using her feet, she delivered hard kicks to his side, but he held on.
Raina looked around, her eyes landing on Drakonis, who was flying beneath them. Then, her gaze snapped to Daeron.
“Dracarys!” Raina yelled. Drakonis opened his jaws and spewed fire at the two of them. Daeron let out an ear-piercing scream as his dragon roared, the flames searing their skin.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Raina moved her hand back up, striking him hard. He released his grip on the dragon and went spiraling toward the ground. Seizing the opportunity, she pulled herself up just enough to grab the saddle, yanking it down with all her strength, guiding the dragon toward the ground.
With even faster movements than before, Raina pushed herself off the dragon, grabbing the dangling leather strap hooked onto hers. She turned her head to watch the dragon tumble and hit the ground hard, head first.
"Dracarys!" Rena yelled again, and Drakonis released another breath of fire around the area where Daeron and his dragon landed. She had no doubt in her mind that they were dead.
With that, Raina pulled the leather strap, causing Drakonis to descend closer to the ground so she could land on it.
Raina's eyes scanned the surroundings and she saw Aemond making his way down to the lakeshorelakeshore. Quietly, Raina directed Drakonis to move down to the shore to meet him there.
Raina's eyes gleamed with anger as she confronted her uncle on the lakeshore, both of them standing with swords in hand.
"You know how this will go, Raina," Aemond said, his gaze fixed on her with unwavering intensity. "I have won this, and you know it," he hissed. Raina was well aware that she had already lost this battle, but her pure anger fueled her determination.
"This... this is not over until I say it is," Raina hissed back, her eyes momentarily shifting to Drakonis, whose scales caught the glint of the sun.
Returning her focus to Aemond, Raina stood defiantly on the lakeshore, clutching Wyrmsong, her Valyrian steel sword. The tension between them hung in the air, carried by the wind, as Drakonis took flight, meeting Aemond's dragon in the sky. Raina feared that Drakonis might struggle against the larger she-dragon due to their size difference. Although Drakonis possessed formidable strength, he was still young and inexperienced in battle, as he was the only dragon Raina had ridden into battle.
"Let's finish this," Raina hissed as the clash of dragons echoed, yet her focus remained unwavering on Aemond. The lakeshore transformed into the battleground where their familial strife would be settled.
Advancing as Aemond did, Raina swung Wyrmsong through the air, aiming to strike him, but her blade was met with his own. The dance of the two Targaryens unfolded—a mesmerizing clash of steel and fire, each strike hitting harder than the one before.
Drakonis roared, flames engulfing their surroundings as the two dragons fought fiercely above them.
Raina's sword swung with precision, landing a forceful blow on Aemond. Despite Raina's skillful movements, Aemond countered with equal ferocity. Valyrian steel clashed against Valyrian steel, their blades singing a song of determination and resolve.
As Raina maneuvered around Aemond, his blade found an opening, causing Wyrmsong to slip from her grip. Their eyes locked, but Raina refused to yield, continuing the fight with her bare hands against Aemond's blade. She lunged, attempting to grab his wrist, only for the butt end of his sword to strike her, causing her to stumble back.
Drakonis roared overhead, yet Raina remained unbroken. Determined, she pressed forward, swinging her fist at Aemond. Recognizing her unwavering tenacity, Aemond made the decision to disarm himself. The lakeshore bore witness to a raw struggle between two Targaryens.
With a surge of strength, Aemond's next blow brought Raina to her knees. Blood filled Raina's mouth from the impact, blurring her vision. Suddenly, Aemond delivered a kick to her shoulder, sending her sprawling to the ground. Undeterred, Raina swiftly flipped onto her back, extending her leg to strike his leg with a forceful kick.
Raina lunged forward, striking Aemond forcefully with the butt end of her sword, causing him to stumble backward. She pressed on, determined to finish the confrontation, but he rolled away and swiftly made for his dragon.
As Raina watched him escape, she knew that this turn of events would have significant consequences. With both leaders of the green army gone, the victory belonged to the black forces.
