"That's cheating; it doesn't count"

Y/N POV:

"Something is coming," Mike murmurs from behind the folder, and the rest of us are on edge, eager to see what it might be. "Something hungry for blood. A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness. It is almost here."

"What is it?" Will asks, his eyes widening.

"What if it's the Demogorgon?" Dustin suggests.

"Oh, Jesus, we're in deep trouble if it's the Demogorgon," I say.

"It's not the Demogorgon," Arlo says, looking at me, which makes me roll my eyes at him.

"An army of troglodytes charges into the chamber!" Mike exclaims, slamming the game piece onto the table.

"Troglodytes?" Dustin chuckles.

"Told ya," Arlo says, causing all of us to laugh.

"Wait a minute," Mike says softly, and we all snap our heads in his direction.

"Did you hear that? That... that sound?" A silence falls over us as we watch Mike, who's silently staring at us from behind the folder.

"Boom... boom..."

"Boom!" he shouts, pounding his fist against the table.

"That didn't come from the troglodytes. No, that... The Demogorgon! That came from something else." Mike slams the game piece on the table, and a collective groan of defeat from all of us.

"We're in deep trouble," Dustin says.

"Will, it's your turn," I remind him.

"I don't know," Will says, shaking his head.

"Fireball him!" Arlo suggests.

"I'd have to roll a 13 or higher," Will explains.

"Too risky," Dustin says, shaking his head. "Cast a protection spell."

"Don't be a p**sy. Fireball him!" Lucas says.

"Cast Protection," Dustin says as Mike slams his hand onto the table, causing us to flinch and look up.

"The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering!" Mike declares. "It stomps towards you."

"Boom!"

"Fireball him!" Arlo insists.

"Another stomp, boom!"

"Cast Protection," I suggest as Arlo looks at me.

"He roars in anger!"

"No, Will. Cast a fireball," Arlo says, glaring at me.

"Fireball!" Will shouts, enthusiastically throwing the dice across the table.
