The Upside Down - 2
"I don't think it's the monster"
Y/N POV:
The four of us cautiously walked out of the room, scanning the surroundings as we entered the living room.
"This is crazy," Steve muttered to himself. "This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy!"
He ran over to the phone on the wall, took the phone in his hand, dialing a number, and I walked over, grabbing the phone out of his hand and throwing it across the room.
"What are you do- What are you doing?" He asks. "Are you insane?"
"It's going to come back!" I shout at him.
"You need to leave," I tell him, letting out a shaky breath. "Right now."
Steve glanced between the three of us, then rushed out of the house. Nancy, Jonathan, and I remained standing in the living room, the lights flickering once again as we scanned the surroundings, anticipating the monster's next move.
The lights suddenly flicker off, plunging the room into darkness. I hear a low growl, and in the dim light, I see the Demogorgon standing above Jonathan, pushing him to the ground. Panicking, I shoot at the creature.
"Go to hell, you son of a bitch!" I cry out, but the bullets only bounce off the Demogorgon. The monster then turns its attention to me, emitting a loud screech as it approaches me.
The gun in my hands suddenly runs out of bullets, leaving me defenseless. In that vulnerable moment, Steve bursts through the door, grabs Jonathan's bat, and swings it at the monster's stomach. He rushes over to me, twirling the bat and landing a few more hits before it stumbles into the bear trap.
"It's in the trap!" I shout, gesturing for Jonathan to come over.
"Jonathan, do it now!" Nancy exclaimed, aiming her gun.
Jonathan swiftly grabbed the stray lighter, hurling it onto the floor. The line of gasoline ignited, enveloping the Demogorgon in flames. All of us instinctively shielded our faces from the intense heat.
Jonathan sprayed the fire extinguisher, creating a thick smoke that blurred our vision, and we coughed as we cautiously approached the trap.
"Where did it go?" Nancy asked, scanning the area.
"No," Jonathan replied, shaking his head and panting heavily as he leaned against the wall.
"It has to be dead," I said, rubbing my forehead. We all observed the absence of the monster as the fire dwindled, leaving behind burnt skin on the bear trap.
The lights continued to flicker, but only the ones directly above our heads. We took cautious steps backward, anticipating the appearance of the monster. However, an unusual feeling swept over me, and I began to doubt if it was a monster. We followed the erratic lights, gradually making our way to the living room, where I suddenly realized what might be happening.
"Mom! Dad!" I called out, turning to Jonathan, who shared my realization.
"Mom?" he called out, questioning, as we exchanged a look and then rushed outside to find a flickering light.
"Where is it going?" Nancy asked, joining Jonathan, with Steve stood next to me.
"I don't think it's the monster," I said, my suspicion growing.
We all took a deep breath and sighed. Steve, who was next to me, ruffled his head. "What the hell happened?" he asked, but we all ignored him. Then, I remembered the kids.
"Kids," I mumbled, grabbing Jonathan and Nancy's attention. "They're alone; we have to go," I said, and they nodded as we all rushed to Jonathan's car.
"Hello, someone tell me what happened and where are you going now?" Steve asked as I sat in the passenger seat, and Jonathan took the driver's seat.
"Steve, we'll explain on the way. Right now, we have to go to the school," Nancy said as he stood there, puzzled.
"Why do we have to go to school?" he continued asking questions.
I sighed and poked my head out of the window. "Arlo is there," I said, knowing that now he would come.
"What?" he asked as Jonathan started the engine. "What is he doing there?" he inquired, running towards us, opening the back seat door, and sitting next to Nancy.
"Is he involved in this too?" Steve asked us, and Jonathan and I glanced at each other.
"Yes," the three of us said at the same time.
When we arrived at the school, our eyes widened because ambulances and military cars were there. "Oh no," Nancy mumbled as we saw boys standing in the ambulance with Y/n sitting there wrapped in blankets. As soon as the car parked, we all ran to the kids. Nancy hugged Mike, and Steve hugged Arlo, who looked confused about how Steve was here.
"Y/s/n," I went inside the ambulance and hugged her, and she hugged me back tightly. I noticed she was weak.
I searched for El, but she was missing. "Where is El?" I whispered to Y/n, and she whimpered.
"She's gone," she said, and I rubbed her back. I don't know what happened, but now she needs comfort.

"Guys, hurry up!" Arlo's voice snapped me out of my thoughts as I saw the boys and Y/N run past Jonathan into the room.
I stood up, and Jonathan smiled at me. I walked towards him, standing in front of him. "How is he?" I asked.
"See for yourself," he said, nodding his head toward the room. I smiled, and we both walked into the room, not noticing two persons pairs of eyes on us.
"Go easy on him, kids," Jonathan said as we both walked inside.
"You won't believe what happened when you were gone, man," Lucas said.
"It was mental," Dustin added.
"You had a funeral," my sister said.
"Jennifer Hayes was crying," Arlo said.
"And Troy peed himself," Mike said.
"In front of the whole school?" Dustin asked as Will started to cough, making them stop smiling.
"Hey, are you okay?" my sister asked him.
"It got me. The Demogorgon," Will said.
"We know," Mike said.
"It's okay," Arlo said. "It's dead."
"We made a new friend," Mike said.
"She stopped it. She saved us," my sister said.
"But she's gone now," Mike said as my sister put her hand on Mike's shoulder.
"Her name's Eleven," Arlo said.
"Like the number?" Will asked.
"Well, we call her El for short," Lucas said.
"She's basically a wizard," Dustin added.
"She has powers, just like Y/S/N," Lucas said.
"More like a Yoda," Mike said.
"She flipped a van over with her brain," Dustin said.
"And the soldiers tried to shoot us," Arlo started, but Lucas cut him off.
"Y/S/N controlled them and made them shoot each other, and El squeezed the soldiers' brains, making the blood bleed out of their eyes," Dustin continued. Without realizing, I had been smiling at them. However, my smile slowly started to fade as I looked down and then walked out of the room, hastily passing where everyone was sitting.
I quickly went to the bathroom and stared at my reflection in the mirror. Taking a deep breath, I tried to gather my thoughts.
