"She just went like..."

Y/N POV:

"Is there a number we can call for your parents?" Mike asked as the five of us stood in front of the girl we found in the woods. She sat on the sofa, still in her wet clothes.

"Where's your hair? Do you have cancer?" Dustin asked her.

"Did you run away?" Lucas asked.

"Are you in some kind of trouble?" Arlo asked her.

"Is that blood?" Lucas asked, reaching his hand out to touch the girl. Her eyes widened, and I slapped his hand away.

"Stop it! You're freaking her out!" I said to him.

"She's freaking me out!" Lucas said.

"I bet she's deaf," Dustin said, then clapped his hands in front of her, making her jump.

"Dustin," I called to him.

"Not deaf," Dustin said.

"All right, that's enough, all right?" I said to them, giving them a look to stop.

"She's just scared and cold," Mike said as he went to get some clothes and soon returned with them.

"Here, these are clean. Okay?" Mike said, giving the clothes to the girl.

She took the clothes, then stood up, attempting to remove her shirt.

"No, no, no!" The four boys turned away as I grabbed the girl's hand and stopped her.

"Oh, my God. Oh, my God," Dustin freaked out.

"See over there? That's the bathroom," I said, pointing at the bathroom.

"Privacy. Get it?" I said as she looked at me, then took the clothes and went to the room. I followed her.

When she went inside, I was about to close the door, but the girl stopped me.

"You don't want it closed?" I asked, and she shook her head.

"No," she said.

"Oh, so you can speak," Mike said, coming up behind me as the girl stared at him.

"Okay, well... um, how about we just keep the door..." I closed the door, leaving some space, "just like this."

"Is that better?" I asked her.

"Yes," she said, and I smiled and nodded at her, then walked away from there with Mike.

"This is mental," that's the first thing Dustin said when Mike and I joined the group.

"At least she can talk," Mike said.

"She said 'no' and 'yes,'" Lucas said. "Your three-year-old sister says more."
