700 years.

It has been 700 years since I saw my family. I knew it was only my younger sister I was meeting up with but still I got a lump in my stomach on the thought of facing my family again. Most of them cut contact when they found out I was a bastard. It's not like I wanted to be? I can't control what my father does.

I tried to shake my thoughts when I walked in to the small cafe right by my office.  The smell of freshly pressed coffee and pastries filled my nose instantly and my ears filled with guitar strings out of tune. I cringed at the sound as I payed for my coffee.

I tried to ignored it as I was only picking up coffee and not staying. But when they hit a note wrong I couldn't help but look who this awful guitar player was. I was floored almost instantly

She had warm brown waive hair that was put up in a bun. Her golden skin stood out with her white tank top. I saw A snake tattoo around a lotus on her forearm as she wrote down the notes And the butterfly on her collarbone. Her honey brown eyes focused on the strings as she mouthed words with her plump lips. The beauty mark right above her lip caught my eye. It took a minute before I realized my coffee was done. I took the cup and made my way over to her. I had to talk to her! It was just a pull.

I tapped my finger on her table trying to get her attention, which I did. Her eyes stared in to mine for a minute and I was at loss of words for a tad before her eyes fixated on my hair. I laughed in my mind before speaking.

"Hello? Earth to weirdo!" I said as a joke. She looked me in the eyes again.

"Yeah, hi, sorry" she laughed. I was about to smile when I remembered the reason why I came over to her. I stood up straight again.

"Yeah. Could you not?" I said. She looked confused.

"Could I not what?" She asked.

"This is not broadway. Nobody would want to hear your questionable 'guitar skills' in here" I said making air quotes. She frowned at me and stood up.

"Excuse me?" She said.

"Hm, apology not accepted" I said with a smirk.

"Ooh, what a big man. You think I was apologizing to you? Pfft. Piss off ass hat I'm not apologizing to you" she said and sat down once again. I let out a growl in defeat as I walked away.

"You suck anyways!" I shouted as I left the cafeteria with a childish smile on my face.

I made my way back to the office and worked on an architect project while I waited for my sister. A few hours later I get a call from the desk downstairs.

"Mr. Batal, your sister is here" the women said.

"Let her know I'm coming" I said before hanging up. I closed my computer and took the elevator down we're I was greeted by the gremlin to sister.
