Chu was now sitting in Yunlan's office as temporary chief until his return which went down well with the rest of the team, it was better than having a replacement who knew nothing about them or their habits at work, like the silent communication they had with Lin Jing. They just stared at him and he knew what they wanted him to do and it wasn't just one person, it was every one of them. It had been happening for so long, that they never even questioned it as being odd, or unusual, it was normal.
Chu didn't know how much information to release to the team about the incidents surrounding Yunlan, what would help and how much would be considered as breaking a confidence. He needed a way to find out, he needed a four legged friend and he called Da Qing to ask a favour.
The staff were trying to look busy which never fooled Chu because he was one of them up until recently and knew what they were doing. Zhu Hong didn't scream but she wasn't quiet when she yelled at seeing the cat stroll into the office as if he owned the place, and everyone turned to see what all the fuss was about.
"Look, lovely, here kitty, you are a beautiful cat, where did you come from? Here puss puss." Sha Ya loved cats and the rest of the staff joined her except for Zhu Hong, she kept her distance. Chu played his role perfectly and stormed out of the office to find out what was going on.
"Whose cat is that? Pets are not allowed in here, concentrate more on your work than playingwith the cat, is it a stray? Do you think Yunlan would allow it in here or its going to stay becausehe's off recuperating, think again." and he stepped back into the office and closed the door, waiting..."
They all separated and returned to their own desks, leaving the cat to wander around, freely moving from one desk to the other, able to see what each person was working on and hear what they were thinking, while he stared into their eyes as they were concentrating on their PC screens, unaware of the repeated cat behaviour. Lin Jing's desk was further away from the rest, and it had gone totally unnoticed for years that he'd kept his distance, but he had been watching the cat, waiting for it to approach him because so far, it had visited everyone except him. Da Qing strolled over and jumped onto Lin Jing's desk and stared into his eyes.
"Now that you've come to see me, what were you looking for with everyone else?" He asked the cat who froze for a second, another telepath.
"Clever Lin Jing, you've hidden this well, does anyone else know?"
"You answer first, who are you?" He asked the cat and watched as it jumped down and approached Chu's office, waiting to be allowed entry.
"Let me in and I'll tell you."
Lin Jing had no option except to rise, and cautiously opened the door for the cat, who immediately jumped onto Chu's desk and turned to face Jing as he entered, and closed the door behind himself. Chu stared at Lin Jing and walked over to close the office blinds before speaking to the cat.
