Part 6

The night passed peacefully and the whip returned to its original position before Yunlan awoke. He'd slept well and was full of energy as he decided on his clothing for today, noticing the whip lying on a small table. he couldn't remember lifting it but it was possible, by accident because it had been in the same drawer as the book and he stared for a second trying to figure out how it stayed wrapped around someone's wrist. His staff would think him crazy if he turned up with it tied inside his sleeve an he grinned slightly.

Yunlan locked his house heading to the garage for his car, forgetting for a moment that it was still in the city after his mugging last night. Maybe by this time it would have been stolen because they took his keys and his wallet. No Money, he thought and had to return indoors to phone the office, letting them know that he would be late. He was trying to work out who to ask for a lift when his phone rang, and it was Shen Wei. Perfect.

"I'm glad you phoned, could you possibly do me a huge favour and give me a lift to work, I left my car in the garage yesterday after I was mugged?" He asked hoping to see him again and give him the chance to have another look around the house.

"Are you alright? Did you get hurt?" Shen Wei had to ask even although he knew exactly what his injury involved. "Yes of course I can take you to work, no problem."

"Thank you so much, and why did you phone, was it important?" Yunlan asked him.

"No not really, just wanted to ask you out for a coffee or tea sometime." which was true, but also he would be able to find out more about him in the process. "I'll be over in about twenty minutes, see you soon."

True to his word, Wei arrived promptly twenty minutes later to find Yunlan standing outside his house waiting on him and delivered a broad smile which lit up his whole face. It was going to be a lovely day. The journey wasn't long enough for Yunlan, he was enjoying the conversation with Shen Wei and before he knew it they were parking in front of his office.

"You mentioned coffee, that would be nice, just phone me when you're going and I'll meet you, and you're more than welcome to come back to the house to look at some more paintings, the library is huge." Yunlan beamed his best smile at Shen Wei.

"Yes, I would like that, and I'll phone you about coffee, see you later." and Shen Wei drove off after Yunlan had stepped out and waved.

The staff watched him enter with the same radiant smile and were now convinced that there was a new person in his life, but didn't dare ask.

"Lin Jing can you check the security cameras for last night in the garage at the time I left to go home, I was mugged and they stole my car keys, also have a look and see if my car is gone, please."

Lin Jing is positive, there's a new man in his boss's life, he's being polite, and he checked the recordings looking for the muggers. He watched the men approaching Yunlan from behind and knocking him unconscious before running off with his keys and wallet, then the camera went foggy same as before and when it cleared, Yunlan was gone. he then checked to see if his car was missing but apparently not, it was still there.
