Part 23

Kunlun was a complicated piece of programming, his design was too far advanced for a normal human to create, therefore Wei's father must have had help from someone with power. The synaesthesia picture in the library had an effect on everyone who looked at it and brought out their hidden talents. It was hanging in his father's office before it was moved here after his death for the future of the Zhao family and their heirs.

Yunlan was exhausted and needed to sleep, he was fighting to stay awake and it was very obvious to Kunlun, who steered him towards the rest area where the small lounge was situated, at the back of the vault.

"Rest my boy, use the guest bed, I will wake you when needed, there is no need to worry about time here."

Yunlan closed his eyes, feeling the comfort of the bed and was asleep instantly. The hologram image froze and the real Kunlun emerged and sat beside the sleeping young man that he'd watched for years unable to interfere in earthly events, glad that he was now discovering who he really was.

The rest of the sleepers were beginning to rise and prepare for breakfast which was waiting for them in the upstairs dining room. Gelan had prepared a wonderful choice of hot cooked small dishes mixed with a cold buffet for anyone to make their own choice of a meal.

The two guests plus Da Qing sat quietly and ate while Gelan attended to Shen Wei's injuries wondering where Yunlan had gone so early before breakfast.

"He's learning new skills Gelan, but he'll be here soon." Wei smiled as she finished and left to join the men for her choice of a meal.

Wei felt Yunlan's presence more strongly after he had left the vault and came out of the basement into the reception hall. As he climbed the stairs towards the first floor, Wei could feel the power in him that had been hidden until needed and he was relieved, they stood a better chance of defeating the monster from the other world. He looked towards the door where Yunlan had stood for a second, before he approached the side of the bed and sat down to look at Wei. He reached into his pocket, and taking out the black orb, he placed the cord around Wei's neck where it belonged.

Shen Wei looked down and fingered it lightly as he smiled and glanced back up at Yunlan whose eyes had a hint of gold taken from the orb. He reached for Wei's face to cradle it gently while he kissed him deeply with all the emotion he could summon, freezing time for them to enjoy this moment before having to face whatever would happen on the mountain and they broke their contact.

"Did you have enough rest, my love?" Wei asked as he looked at the gold flecks in Yunlan's eyes.

"Yes Xaio Wei, time is a little strange down there, I slept well," and he fetched a robe for Wei before lifting him into place on the wheelchair, and they headed towards the dining room.

The table had been silent apart from the normal noise of breakfast dishes and Gelan looked up when Yunlan arrived, offering to bring over some tea and their choice of food.

"Thank you Gelan but Finish your own meal, I'll sort our out, you've done enough by providing us with this beautiful food," and he chose a few dishes that Wei would like and sat down beside him. Da Qing was staring at his eyes, the cat missed nothing. He was studying the gold flecks when Yunlan spoke to him.

"See something interesting Da Qing? You'll ruin your eyesight if you stare." and the cat blinked, Yunlan didn't speak, and he stared again.

"If you ever try mindreading on me, I'll know." and he returned the stare at the cat who realised that Yunlan had telepathy capabilities, since when he thought.

"Since last night, dear cat, so no probing."

If Shen Wei had heard this conversation, he wasn't showing it, but he did choke slightly when he swallowed a mouthful of tea.

The guards had already started transporting all the equipment and personal belongings that had been collected in the reception, all that was left were the people who were travelling. Lin Jing, Chu and Gelan who carried Da Qing in his basket, were the first ones to leave the mansion. Arriving at the chosen cave, they started to arrange the items brought earlier, clearing a space for Shen Wei during the ritual. The three remaining guards stayed behind waiting for Yunlan and Shen Wei, who was getting nervous and trying to hide it from everyone.

he sat on the side of the bed fidgeting and sighing every now and again. Yunlan didn't need to look at him, he could feel his emotions from where he was and went over to calm him down, before they left for the cave.

"Xaio Wei, things are going to be alright. The guards are strong enough to go through with the transfer, the cave is secure and easily defended, and the secret has been kept, no one knows where we're going. What bothers you the most?"

"What if he finds out and attacks at the worst possible moment? What would you all do? If he uses that weapon, you won't stand a chance." and Wei sighed again.

"Wei, my love, you need to trust me and do this, believe that we will be alright."

Yunlan had said the magic words, 'trust and believe', the last time he had asked him this, was in the fire and he did trust him. Wei teleported Yunlan down to the reception hall where the guards were waiting with a normal chair for him to use for travel and they took their places. One stood directly behind, with the others on either side of the chair. Yunlan stood in front facing Wei and as he held his hands he asked,

"Are you ready My Lord? Let's fly."

Ouyang Zhen had felt a ripple in the doorway as he was leaving to return to his home world, there was someone powerful in this area but he had no intentions of searching himself, when he had an army to do that. He would send out a team to scout and if they found anyone, eliminate them whether they were a threat or not, he wanted the doorway to remain a secret. His only threat in his world was Yezun and he could destroy him with four words,

"Your Brother is Dead."
