"We're close. It's only another day drive. If we work in shifts, we can get there faster." Suguru explains, pointing at the map to show them where to go. After driving a long way, gas was needed so Satoru pulled over. Everyone is taking a break outside the car, stretching their sore limbs."I thought you didn't want to go." Satoru teases causing Suguru to roll his eyes. He's never amused by Satoru, he wonders if him being an alpha is the only desirable quality he has. Although in Suguru's opinion, alphas are just dumb brats eager to pop a knot into any pretty omega they meet.
"I don't but if we're going there anyway, it's better to be efficient. So, shifts?" Suguru suggests once more, looking to the members of the group for their thoughts. Megumi watches as the puppies play with each other, glad to be out of the cardboard box. They've grown so much, still young but much bigger than before.
Tsumiki keeps an eye on them, their exuberant behavior improving her spirits.
"Sukuna and I will work the night shift so everyone can rest." Megumi offers before anyone else can take that shift. Satoru and Suguru begin to discuss which roads would be quicker, bickering back and forth. While they're distracted, Sukuna grabs Megumi's wrist and captures his attention.
"Bathroom." Sukuna explains simply, continuing to bring Megumi along. Tsumiki gives Megumi a questioning look, wondering where the two are off to. Megumi mouths bathroom for her, before he's out of sight.
They come to a stop and Sukuna doesn't say anything at first, moving closer to Megumi. "Is it safe?" He questions, placing his large hands onto Megumi's sides. If it were anyone else, Megumi may have felt uncomfortable. Perhaps even suffocated with an uneasiness. Then again, it's always been a little different with Sukuna. He understands him easier unlike others, unlike Satoru who is a bit harder to comprehend at times.
"I don't know." Megumi honestly replies, pausing briefly. "But I can't risk avoiding it out of fear if there is a possibility my sister could be safe. Sorry, uh, I guess I didn't ask your opinion about it. If you don't want to go then..." Megumi trails off, feeling a strange sensation.
He and Sukuna have been a team since this whole disaster. Megumi admits that he trusts Sukuna, not as much as he does Tsumiki, but enough to be acknowledged. Sukuna has never abandoned him or done anything unforgivable. But if Sukuna wanted to go, then Megumi would respect his decision. They were all taking a risk, this so-called sanctuary and traveling with strangers.
Technically, Satoru isn't a stranger. They've had sex more times than Megumi has with anyone before. But sharing lust doesn't automatically mean trust or loyalty is given. Satoru could've been a friend at one point but maybe he isn't anymore. That's what Megumi fears, if he were being truthful. He doesn't love Satoru, at least... he doesn't think he does.
But he wants to hope that Satoru won't betray him. No matter how foolish that is. If Satoru does, then Megumi would think... he'd be truly distraught over it. There's so much on the line, everyday is war between the living and the dead but it's also become a war between the living. A land with no law, no enforcements. People can do what they want. Rape, steal, abuse and force authority.
The world has always been vile and yet, somehow, it's worsened. It's a scary realization.
"I will not leave Megumi." Sukuna's determined expression sets the omega at ease. A pack is a rare thing to have, sincere and loyal people all willing to go to great lengths for each other. Megumi never thought he might have one, but if Sukuna continues to be this dependable, maybe a pack could form. Him, Sukuna, and Tsumiki.
