It doesn't take them long to get to the city after the incident. The group had silently trudged through the rest of the sandy slopes and made it to the edge, where tall buildings, overgrown and weathered, stood solemnly in front of them. Saiki looked up through tired eyes, lips cracked from the dry wind that had blown onto his face as he walked– they were going to run out of water soon. Not only that, but they haven't had anything decent to eat in two days since they left the facility. They had to find someone– anyone in the city– that could take them to shelter and resources.

"This place looks completely deserted..." Kaidou observed as they walked through the sheets– cracked roads overgrown with grass and covered in rubble.

Toritsuka stopped in his tracks, looking up at a building and covering the hot sun with his hand. He squinted his eyes to get a better look. The building was tall, mostly intact except for the giant hole torn off the top, vines and various wires blew in the wind like a veil. He put his hand down and shivered slightly. "... Let's stay out of these buildings." He said, swallowing dryly. "I don't think we'll be able to find any people here. Kaidou might be right, this place is deserted."

"I think you're incorrect." Akechi said, as a matter a factly. "We certainly aren't alone, if you count those creatures we encountered at the mall."

"Those can't be the only living things around here." Kuboyasu said, refusing to believe it. "There have to be other humans– like us. Right, Saiki?"

'Quiet.' Saiki stopped listening to their conversation mid-way through as something began to feel off. He looked up as if he was searching for something.

Bbbrrrrrrr

The slight whirring of something in the sky was getting closer, it even began to make the rocks on the ground shake. "We need to hide." He concluded quickly. "Everyone get under something and do not come out until I say so." Saiki quickly said to everyone. The group scrambled, finding various cars and large, broken pieces of rubble to hide under. Just in time, something flew over them. A large and dark aircraft, belonging to none other than LMTLSS.

They were hunting.

'Hunting for us...' Saiki grimaced at the thought of Dr. K's face, probably aboard that aircraft, looking down and trying to search for them. 'Psychopath... I suppose it's a game of hide and seek now.' They all waited until the aircraft was completely out of sight. 'Alright, we can come out now.'

"Those guys really are searching for us, aren't they..? Why are we so important to them anyway?" Kaidou asked.

Saiki didn't know why, but he was inclined to turn to Teruhashi at that moment, who had immediately averted his gaze. He sighed. "I... don't know." And it was true. Saiki didn't know. If LMTLSS really had hundreds upon hundreds of other kids, then why were they so adamantly worried about six kids who escaped? They had plenty more to work with, but for some strange reason, Dr. K was obsessed with them. "We should... find shelter soon."

"Hey, guys–" Kuboyasu looked back out into the desert. "We should find shelter now."

"Why? What are you seeing?" Saiki walked over to him. "... What the hell is that?"

CRACK!

As the group looked on with Kuboyasu and Saiki, they found themselves staring at one of the strangest natural occurrences they've ever seen. A storm. Quickly moving toward them in clouds of dark gray, lightning striking down much more often than it should– an alarming sight for anybody with a brain.

They quickly went building to building, trying to get through the blocked off doors. All of them were either locked, jammed, or entirely impossible to go through due to the amount of rubble on the other side. And they didn't have time to try and pick locks.
